Direct Recruitment Examination for the under mentioned post is to be conducted by the Mizoram Public Service Commission. Application can be submitted through the Mizoram Public Service Commission’s online portal  mpsconline.mizoram.gov.in till 27/08/2026 upto 4:00 PM. Probable applicants who have not registered in the one-time-registration portal must register and submit their application well in advance before the last date of submission.

Pay : Level – 7 in the Pay Matrix 
Job Description : Conduct scientific examination and analysis of forensic exhibits in the respective division (DNA, Fingerprint, Chemistry, Ballistics & Toolmarks, Questioned Documents, Photography, Cyber Forensics); attend crime scenes for identification, documentation, collection and preservation of evidence (especially for DNA & Fingerprint); maintain chain of custody; operate relevant forensic instruments and techniques; prepare scientific reports; assist investigating agencies; and depose as expert witness in courts.

Educational Qualifications : 
i) JSO (DNA) : M.Sc. Forensic Science OR M.Sc. Human genetics OR M.Sc. Biotechnology OR M.Sc. Biochemistry OR M.Sc. Microbiology OR M.Sc. Genetics or Molecular Biology from a recognised University or Institute. 
Desirable : Working experience in a recognized forensic science laboratory.
ii) JSO (Fingerprint) : M.Sc. Forensic Science from a recognized University or Institute. Desirable: Working experience in a recognized forensic science laboratory. 
iii) JSO (Chemistry) : M.Sc. in Forensic Science OR M.Sc. Chemistry OR M.Sc. Biochemistry from a recognized University or Institute. Desirable: Working experience in a recognized forensic science laboratory. 
iv) JSO (Ballistics & Toolmarks) : M.Sc. Forensic Science OR M.Sc. Physics OR M.Sc. Mathematics OR Applied Mathematics OR B.E. (Civil/Mechanical) from a recognized University or Institute. Desirable: Working experience in a recognized forensic science laboratory. 
v) JSO (Questioned Documents) : M.Sc. Forensic Science from a recognized University or Institute Desirable: Working experience in a recognized forensic science laboratory. 
vi) JSO (Photography) : M.Sc. Forensic Science (specialization in Digital or Multimedia Forensics) OR B.E. or B.Tech. or above in Computer Science or Electronics from a recognized University or Institute. Desirable: Working experience in a recognized forensic science laboratory. 
vii) JSO (Cyber Forensic) : M.Sc. (Cyber/Digital Forensics) OR M.Sc. Forensic Science (specialization in Digital or Cyber/Multimedia Forensics) OR B.Tech. or above in (Cyber or Digital Forensics) OR Master in Computer Applications (MCA)/ M.Sc. IT OR B.E. and above in Computer Science from a recognized University or Institute. 
Desirable : Working experience in a recognized forensic science laboratory.

Computer Proficiency : Computer Proficiency as prescribed by the Mizoram Group ‘A’, ‘B’ and ‘C’ posts Service/Recruitment (Amendment) Rules, 2023 notified vide No. A.12018/31/2020- P&AR (GSW) dated 10.03.2023.

Age Limit : A candidate must not be less than 18 years and not more than 30 years of age on 1st August, 2026. Upper age limit is relaxable up to 5 years in case of ST/SC candidates or as may be notified by the Government from time to time. For proof of age, HSLC/HSSLC Certificates/Voters ID/Digitised Birth Certificate which clearly shows the candidate’s date of birth shall be accepted.


Mizo Language Proficiency : A candidate must achieve the pass mark in the qualifying test of Mizo Language Proficiency as prescribed by the Government from time to time. However, a candidate who studied Mizo subject in Class-X standard(HSLC) or above within Mizoram or who opted for Mizo subject as MIL outside Mizoram is exempted from taking the qualifying test paper (Reference: the Mizoram Gazette Notification vide No. A-11019/1/2021-P&AR(GSW) dt.09.04.2024 issue No.247).)]

Documentary support to prove fulfilment of eligibility conditions should not be dated later than the last date for submission of application, and the same should be uploaded latest by the last date of application. 

Mandatory Documents to be uploaded 
(1) To support their applications, the candidates must upload the following documents in the online portal, positively before expiry of the period specified for submission of the application:- 
a) Marksheets of HSLC and above. 
b) Educational Certificates of HSLC and above. 
c) Proof of Computer Proficiency [Para 7.(II)]. 
d) Proof of proficiency in Mizo Language [Para 7.(IV)]. 
e) SC/ST Certificate (for SC/ST candidates only). 
f) Proof of date of birth [Para 7. (III)]. g) Proof of educational qualifications for the post applied for corresponding to relevant part of Para 7.(I)(i-vii). 
h) Documents, if any for which there is no assigned box for uploading should be uploaded in the “Others” box/field of the OTR Page of the online portal (Multiple documents can be uploaded in the “Others” box/field). 

Note : (i) Wherever on the OTR profile page, under the ‘Supporting Documents’ section, the name of document to be uploaded includes (Certificate and Marksheet), the certificate and the accompanying marksheet should be scanned together in a single pdf file or photographed together clearly, and such pdf or image file should be uploaded. 
(ii) Supporting documents to be uploaded should not be protected from any person for viewing or printing etc. Any uploaded file which is protected in the said manner will be considered as not uploaded. 
(2) Validity of the candidature of an applicant shall be assessed based on the documents uploaded in the online portal only. 
(3) Any application for alteration of documents already uploaded by the candidate in the online portal should be made well before the last date of application in order that such modification would become effective before the expiry of the last date. 
(4) Any alteration of documents made in the portal after the last date for submission of application shall not be considered for the particular post applied for. 
(5) Failure to upload any of the mandatory documents by the closing date for submission of application will result in rejection of the application.
