Research and development activities from the lifeline of a vibrant academic institution. Dean R&D and IRCC play a vital role in IITB’s intellectual output by providing end-to-end support, from conceptualization to commercialization, of research ideas, specifically by Ensuring that environment is created / nurtured / maintained so that faculty and scientists at IITB are able to conduct research of the highest caliber. The research environment includes laboratories’ civil infrastructure, equipment, support staff -- both technical and administrative -- and research staff. Providing support for researchers to liaise with (potential) funding sources so as to be able to finance their research and development activities.

CSIR-Indian Institute of Petroleum, Dehradun, a premier institute under the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), is involved in multidisciplinary R&D programmes of both basic and applied nature across scientific disciplines for economic, environmental and societal benefits for the people of India. CSIR-IIP has a rich legacy of being a pioneer in the area of Petroleum & Hydrocarbon industry and is presently engaged in the development of sophisticated green technologies to cater to the energy needs of modern world and for reducing carbon footprint.

CSIR-IIP has developed and transferred technologies to industries in the area of petroleum refining, natural gas, petrochemicals, chemicals and utilisation of petroleum products, provided technical services and imparted world class training to the human resource of Oil and Refining industry. CSIR-IIP has strong international collaborations with industries and academia in India & abroad and has outstanding scientist in the multidisciplinary areas of R&D in the hydrocarbon and related industry.

Anna University Chennai Regional Office Tiruchirappalli (Formerly Anna University Tiruchirappalli) has been established as a Anna University Chennai Regional Office Tiruchirappalli by the Government of Tamilnadu. The Regional Office is functioning from 01-08-2012 at Tiruchirappalli, which is famously known as Rock Fort city. The Regional Office is situated 17Kms away in the main highway of Tiruchirappalli to Pudukkottai.

The Institute was most popularly known as UDCT, Mumbai. Research has been an integral part of ICT since its inception and it has created over 500 first generation entrepreneurs. The UDCT grew significantly in stature and was granted autonomy under UGC regulations by the University of Mumbai and further converted in to an Institute on 26th January, 2002. Under the World Bank TEQIP programme, the Maharashtra government granted it full autonomy in June 2004. Due to the recommendations of the Government of Maharashtra and University of Mumbai, the ICT was granted Deemed University Status by the MHRD on 12th September, 2008, with all provisions of the UGC for funding and support as the state owned deemed university.
