Tata Institute of Fundamental Research is a National Centre of the Government of India, under the umbrella of the Department of Atomic Energy, as well as a deemed University awarding degrees for master’s and doctoral programs. The Institute was founded in 1945 with support from the Sir Dorabji Tata Trust under the vision of Dr Homi Bhabha.  Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR) is one of the premier centres of scientific research in India that works at the very cutting edge of world science, bringing visibility and international recognition to scientific efforts in India. To facilitate a greater role in world science and technology, TIFR has started an ambitious new campus in Hyderabad, the capital of the newest member in the family of Indian states, Telangana.

Post : Project Scientific Officer (B)

No of post : One (01) Post (UR) : Temporary for one (01) year and may be renewed each year up to a total period of two (02) years depending upon performance and requirement (or) until the project period and maximum upto three (03) years.

Essential Qualification : Full-time Master's Degree in Science (Biochemistry / Biotechnology / Chemistry / Analytical Chemistry / Life Sciences / Pharmaceutical Sciences or related disciplines) from a recognized University/Institute with aggregate of 60% marks. 

Essential Experience : Minimum three (03) years full time active experience in a laboratory with Mass Spectrometry, Metabolomics, Small-molecule/metabolite extraction and analyses, isotope tracer studies, or isotope ratio mass spectrometry analyses. Experience should be supported through certified letters from previous employers.

Job Requirements/Responsibilities : 
a) Independently operate and manage Liquid Chromatography Mass Spectrometry (LC- MS/MS, LC-QTOF-MS and related platforms), including instrument tuning, calibration, performance monitoring, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting and method development. Assist in establishing and validating analytical workflows for targeted and untargeted metabolomics applications. 
b) Perform metabolite extraction and sample preparation from diverse biological matrices including tissues, serum, plasma, urine, cultured cells and other biological specimens. Conduct data acquisition, processing, interpretation and reporting of metabolomics and mass spectrometry datasets. Support investigators in experimental design and data interpretation. 
c) Carryout data analyses for stable-isotope based results (stable isotopes of hydrogen and/or carbon) 
d) Develop and maintain expertise in mass spectrometry software platforms and metabolomics databases. Perform qualitative and quantitative analysis of metabolites, statistical analysis of datasets and pathway interpretation. Develop expertise in advanced data visualization andof metabolomics results. 
e) Establish and maintain quality control and quality assurance procedures for Mass Spectrometry analyses. Monitor instrument performance, maintain calibration records and ensure compliance with laboratory SOPs and facility guidelines. 
f) Maintain online and offline records of sample receipt, processing, analysis and data storage. Keep detailed documentation of instrument maintenance, troubleshooting activities, consumable inventory, service contracts and procurement of accessories and laboratory supplies. 
g) Participate in user training, preparation of SOPs, facility documentation, research collaborations and development of new analytical methods for Mass Spectrometry and Metabolomics applications.

GENERAL INFORMATION : 
1. The above posts are tenable at TIFR, Hyderabad. 
2. Selected candidate for the above posts are liable to be transferred to other Centers / Field Stations of the Institute, if required. 
3. Higher starting salary could be considered for deserving candidate for the post of Sr. No. 1. 
4. For the post, the appointment is temporary and non-pensionable for one (01) year and may be renewed each year upto a total period of two (02) years depending upon performance and requirement (or) until the project period and maximum upto three (03) years.. The candidate will not have any claim for any permanent or temporary appointment in the Institute either during or after the project period.
5. Selected candidates for all the above posts will be required to work on Saturday/Sundays and holidays, as per the exigencies of the Institute. 
6. Prescribed age should not exceed as on closing date for receipt of online applications i.e. July 31, 2026 (Friday). Age relaxation as per rules. 
7. For the post of Sr. No. 1, selected candidate for the post will be governed by National Pension System applicable in the Institute [unless already governed by CCS (Pension) Rules 1972]. 
8. Posts for the general category (Unreserved) – SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PwBD candidates can also apply. Candidates applying for EWS reserved post should not be covered under the scheme of reservation for SCs, STs and OBCs. 
9. Applications from the candidates will be accepted ONLY ON-LINE. 
10. Applicants in Government/ Semi-Government/ Public Sector Undertaking, if called, will be able to participate in the recruitment process only upon submission of NOC from the competent authority, at the time of selection process.

12. The candidates are required to produce following original documents with copies at the time of recruitment process : 
a) Printout of online application form. b) Identity Proof (Aadhaar Card / Election Card / PAN Card/Passport/Driving License). 
c) Date of birth/Proof of age. 
d) Educational Qualification (all mark sheets and certificates). In case Universities/Board award letter grades/CGPA/CGPI/OGPA, the same will have to be indicated as equivalent percentage of marks as per the norms adopted by the University/Board. In the absence of the same, the candidature will not be considered. While submitting original documents for verification, the candidates will have to produce the norms of the University/Board for conversion of grades/CGPA/CGPI/OGPA to equivalent percentage of marks. 
e) Experience certificate/s. 
f) Character certificates from two respectable persons. 
g) SC/ST/OBC/EWS & PwBD certificate (wherever applicable) in the Government of India format. 
h) Latest CV 
i) One page covering letter describing professional background and Experience, their motivation for applying to this particular position and in which terms they consider fit for job.
j) EWS candidates should submit a valid copy of EWS certificate issued by competent authority in the Government of India (GOI) format. The EWS certificate in GOI format should be preferably for the current financial year on the date of closing of application or utmost not earlier than one year from the date of closing of application. Acknowledgement receipt of submission of application for EWS certificate for current financial year will also be accepted (If selected, the candidate has to submit EWS certificate for the current financial year). 
k) PwBD candidates applying for the unreserved post should be suffering from not less than 40% of the disability for the benefit of age relaxation. Candidates will have to submit a Disability Certificate issued by the competent authority in the prescribed format. 

13. 14. The Institute reserves the right to restrict the number of candidates for the recruitment process to a reasonable limit on the basis of qualifications and experience higher than the minimum prescribed in the advertisement. Mere fulfilling the essential and desirable qualifications and experience will not entitle an applicant to be called for the recruitment process.
