M.Pharm and MBA are two different career choices. It is clearly depend on one’s interest, career goal, strengths and aptitude.

 

 

In Master of Pharmacy, you will learn technical, theoretical and practical knowledge of pharmacy subjects. And you will be specialized in a particular subject and get involved in pharmaceutical industry in scientific and productive facet. If you want to join in production, research and development, formulation and development, clinical research, teaching, regulatory affairs, government jobs as pharmacist or drug inspector then M.Pharm is the right choice for you.

In Master of Business Administration, as name suggests, you will learn about management, marketing, financial, hiring and administrational aspects of pharmaceutical or any other industries. After MBA, you will be skilled and developed as a business professional who is responsible for management and sales of any industries. Particularly in pharmaceutical industry, you can join in product management team (PMT), HR, sales or higher managerial positions.

Things to consider while choosing career,
• Identify your subject wise interest and understand that what you expect from yourself.
• Understand about your capabilities.
• Know about your weaknesses.
• It is very important to identify personal aptitude and then choose a career.

Sometime, students get confused with their natural skills and choose wrong career path.
Salaries can be comparatively different in both M.Pharm and MBA. In general, MBA from top institutes are getting higher pay scales. But not all MBA institutes are able to provide higher salary packages to their students. In 2016-17, more than half of MBA graduates could not get hired in campus placements as per AICTE. As per India skill report 2019, only 36.44% MBA graduates are employable talent and almost same for B.Pharm graduates. Here, we just want to draw attention that doesn’t run behind courses on basis of salary that it offers. You need to be goal oriented and try to follow your dreams instead of run behind mirage.

Unlike after M.Pharm, salaries are moderate but gradually pay scale increases with experience. Pharmacy is skill based industry and skills are mandatory along with knowledge.

Admission fees are way higher in MBA compare to M.Pharm.

If you want to take admission in top MBA institute, then you need to crack CAT (Common Admission Test) which is one of the toughest exam of the country.

Likewise for admission in top M.Pharm institute, you have to appear for GPAT (Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test) and you can get handsome salary. You have to appear for NIPER-JEE after GPAT for admission in NIPER.
