Indian Pharmaceutical Association (IPA) Anantapuramu Branch in association with Raghavendra Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research – RIPER, organized its 1ST International Conference on Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research on theme of “Developing Pharmacy Education – A Policy and Practice Perspective” on 29th and 30th of January 2016, at IPA Anantapuramu Headquarters (RIPER). 

The main axiom of the conference is to provide a platform for communication between academic teachers and practitioners in professional education, with an emphasis on new and established teaching and learning methods, new curriculum and syllabus directions, guidance on structuring courses and assessing achievement, as well as the dissemination of new ideas. The two days international conference has a clear globalized perspective, and has a longstanding policy of facilitating and disseminating knowledge, in particular for younger and budding pharmacist.

The Two days International Conference on Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research was chaired by Dr. Y. Padmanabha Reddy (President – IPA Anantapuramu Branch), and organized under the team led by Dr. Mohanraj Rathinavelu (Hon. Secretary – IPA Anantapuramu Branch) with his members Mr. Avvari Sanjeeva Kumar (Treasurer - IPA Anantapuramu Branch) and Mr. S. Nagarjuna (Joint Secretary - IPA Anantapuramu Branch), the Chief Guest of the Conference was Prof. Krishnaiah (Registrar – JNT University Anantapur, Anantapuramu, Andhra Pradesh). Prof. Hemachandra Reddy (Ex-Registrar) participated as Guest of honor during the Valedictory function.

The two days international conference featured distinguished academicians and pharmacy practitioners as speakers in pharmacy profession, Dr. Meghana V. Aruru (Adjunct Faculty, California North State University, Associate Professor, Indian Institute of Public Health, Public Health Foundation India), Dr. Mahesh D. Burande (Hon. Director, Institute of Pharmaceutical Education & Research, Pune, Hon. Director, Adbeez, Pharma Consultancy Group, President – APTI), Dr. Pujari Shanthabai (Associate Professor and Head, Department of Pharmacology, Govt. Medical College and Hospital, Anantapuramu, Andhra Pradesh, India), Mrs. Rajeswari Kalimuthu, (Associate Professor, Division of Pharmacy Practice, Krupanidhi College of Pharmacy, Bangalore, Karnataka) and Mrs. Vaishali Malode (Head – Pharmacy Division, Fortis Hospitals, Fortis Healthcare Limited, Mulund, Mumbai), who made their valuable contributions as lectures to share, interact, explore and strengthen the practice of pharmacy profession and fosters the system of pharmacy education in India. 

The conference drew over 225 delegates from nearly 08 states and 15 pharmacy institutions all over India, at this moment we heartily thank the entire faculty team, student community of the pharmacy fraternity and members of organizing committee for making the event a remarkable success and also we extend our warm connotation to the editorial team of IJPSR (International Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research) and Pharmatutor who helped in mediating the conference proceedings.
