The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), New Delhi, the apex body in India for the formulation, coordination and promotion of biomedical research, is one of the oldest medical research bodies in the world. As early as in 1911, the Government of India set up the Indian Research Fund Association (IRFA) with the specific objective of sponsoring and coordinating medical research in the country. After independence, several important changes were made in the organisation and the activities of the IRFA. It was redesignated in 1949 as the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) with considerably expanded scope of functions.

BIT, Mesra is a "Deemed University" under Sec. 3 of the U.G.C. Act 1956. The Board of Governors is responsible for the main functions and overall supervision of activities. It comprises representatives of the Ministry of Education, Government of India, the U.G.C., the State Government, The Chancellor, the AICTE, The Hindustan Charity Trust and the Institute Faculty. The Newton International Fellowships Scheme was established in 2008 to select the very best early stage  postdoctoral researchers from all over the world and enable them to work at UK research institutions for a period of two years. The Newton International Fellowships programme is available to eligible applicants from any country outside the UK. 

The Indian institute of Soil Science (ICAR-IISS) was established on 16th April, 1988 at Bhopal with a mandate of “Enhancing Soil Productivity with Minimum Environmental Degradation”. To accomplish the mandate of the institute, it has given the priority to soil health related issues faced by farmers and other stakeholders.

B. R. Nahata College of Pharmacy (BRNCP) is nurtured by B. R. Nahata Smriti Sansthan (BRNSS), a philanthropic organization committed to the service of humanity through technological advancement. The institute carries all the necessary approvals of AICTE & PCI and is affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi Technical University (RGPV), Bhopal. The institute is affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi Technical Institute, Bhopal. All D. Pharm., B. Pharm. and M. Pharm. courses are approved from affiliating University, AICTE and PCI. The B. Pharm. course got reaccreditated twice from NBA. Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR)-Govt. of India conferred the status of Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (SIRO) to the institute. The institute is also Centre for Relevance and Excellence (CORE) from Technology Information, Forecasting and Assessment Council (TIFAC), New Delhi.
