The Government of India proposes to fill up the post of Chairperson, Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (Food Authority). The Food Authority was established as a Statutory body under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006 (No.34 of 2006) for laying down science based standards for articles of food and to regulate their manufacture, storage, distribution, sale and import, to ensure availability of safe and wholesome food for human consumption. The Chairperson of the Food Authority is to perform such duties and functions and exercise such powers as prescribed under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006 and the Rules and Regulations made thereunder. The Head Office of the Food Authority is in Delhi.
