The National Institute of Plant Genome Research (formerly known as National Centre for Plant Genome Research is an autonomous institution aided by the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India. The Institutes establishment coincides with the 50th anniversary of India's independence as well as birth anniversary of Prof. (Dr.) J. C. Bose. The formal announcement was made on November 30th 1997. This Institute has already placed India among the major contributors to plant genomics.

Applications are invited from suitable candidates for filling up the following purely temporary positions in Project Management Unit (PMU) in the DBT Multi-institutional project, Characterization of chickpea germplasm resource to accelerate genomics-assisted crop improvement, under mission programme of Characterization of genetic resources under the supervision of Dr. Subhra Chakraborty, Director, NIPGR and Dr. Swarup K. Parida, Scientist, NIPGR
Principal Project Associate (One post)
Emoluments : as per DST/DBT norms & as sanctioned in the project.
Upper Age limit:- 40 years
Qualification : Candidates having masters degree in Natural or Agricultural sciences or bachelors degree in Engineering or Technology or medicine from a recognized university or equivalent with eight years experience in Research and Development in industrial and academic institution or science and technology organizations and scientific activities are eligible to apply as per DST office memorandum number SR/S9/Z-05/2019 dated July 10, 2020.
OR
Candidates having doctoral degree in science/engineering/ technology/ pharma/ MD/ MS from a recognized university or equivalent with four year experience in Research and Development in industrial and academic institutions or science and technology organizations and scientific activities are eligible to apply as per DST office memorandum number SR/S9/Z-05/2019 dated July 10, 2020. Candidates having research experience in the area of plant genomics and bioinformatics duly supported with relevant publications will be preferred. The candidate having research experience in the field of plant genetics and molecular breeding is desirable.
Technical Assistant (Four Posts)
Emoluments : as per DST/DBT norms & as sanctioned in the project.
Upper Age limit:- 50 years
Qualification : Candidates having Bachelors degree in Life Sciences/ Plant Science/ Biochemistry/ Biotechnology/ Microbiology from a recognized university or equivalent with at least 60% marks and having research experience in Molecular Biology Laboratory are eligible to apply as per DST office memorandum number SR/S9/Z-05/2019 dated July 10, 2020. The candidates having research experience in the field of plant genetics, genomics, multiomics, molecular breeding and gene editing/transgenics is desirable.
OR
Candidates having Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from a recognized university or equivalent with at least 60% marks and having research experience in Computer Application are eligible to apply as per DST office memorandum number SR/S9/Z-05/2019 dated July 10, 2020. The candidates having research experience in any field of computer applications, software development and web development is desirable.
Scientific Administrative Assistant (One Post)
Emoluments : as per DST/DBT norms & as sanctioned in the project.
Upper Age limit:- 50 years
Qualification : Candidates having a Graduate degree in any discipline are eligible to apply. Candidate having prior experience in day to day general administrative and financial management related works in any research laboratories/institutions will be given preference. Basic computer literacy with knowledge in MS Office tools is desirable.
The position is purely temporary and is co-terminus with the project. The initial appointment will be for one year, which can be extended / curtailed on the basis of assessment of the candidate’s performance and discretion of the Competent Authority. NIPGR reserves the right to select the candidate against the above post depending upon the qualification and experience of the candidate. NIPGR reserve the right to relax any of the qualification(s) in case the candidate is found suitable / well qualified by the Selection Committee. Reservation of post shall be as per Govt. of India norms.
