The Institute for Stem Cell Science and Regenerative Medicine (instem.res.in), Bangalore, is an autonomous institute under the Biotechnology Research and Innovation Council of the Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India. BRIC-inStem’s mandate is to establish collaborative research programs in the field of stem cell biology, regeneration, and repair, in development and disease, with translational emphasis. In order to develop strengths in focused areas, research at BRIC-inStem is driven through collaborative interdisciplinary efforts, addressing questions that are beyond the scope of a single laboratory.

BRIC-inStem, Bengaluru, invites applications from exceptional candidates in the areas of Human Embryology, Reproductive Biology, Stem Cell Biology, and Regenerative Medicine, for faculty appointments at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor at its Centre for Research, Application and Training in Embryology (CReATE). This Centre is dedicated to advancing fundamental and translational research in early development, employing human stem cell-based models and allied approaches to explore applications in reproductive health, congenital anomaly prevention, and regenerative medicine.

Senior Professor (Scientist- ‘H’) (Pay Level-15)
Post Code : 02/25 & 03/25
Essential Qualification & Experience : Direct Recruitment: Ph.D. in Life Sciences or other Allied Sciences or equivalent with 15 years R&D experience, including Ph.D. demonstrated by strong publications, and successful funding of competitive extramural grants. Relevant experience in the area of organismal, cellular, molecular, systems biology, or biotechnology. The broad focus areas of experience should include (but not be restricted to), Pluripotency and Self Renewal, Differentiation, Tissue Engineering/ animal Models, Stem Cells, Mathematical/Systems Biology, Bioinformatics, and Chemical Biology. 
Experience for Deputation : Scientists from Central/State Governments, Research institutes, Autonomous Bodies etc: - (i) Holding analogous post on a regular basis in the parent Department or (ii) With 3 years’ service in level 13-A or equivalent in the Parent cadre/Department and possessing the essential qualification and experience as mentioned above. 
Desirable Qualifications : An outstanding scientist and educator whose research and teaching interests align with our commitment to advancing knowledge in developmental and reproductive sciences, with translational potential in regenerative medicine. Should contribute to the focused research themes at the Centre, with the ability to foster interactions among basic scientists and clinicians. Ph.D or equivalent in a relevant field. Postdoctoral research experience with a strong publication record. Preferred areas of expertise include human developmental biology, reproductive endocrinology, stem cell-based disease modelling, and translational and regenerative therapies. Expertise in bioethics and regulatory aspects of human embryo and stem cell research. Demonstrated ability to secure competitive research funding at the national and international level and lead major programs. Experience in teaching and curriculum development. Expertise in advanced techniques such as CRISPR, organoid culture, single-cell omics, bioengineering, computational approaches, etc.

Professor / Investigator (Scientist- ‘G’) (Pay Level-14)

Essential Qualification & Experience : Direct Recruitment: Ph.D. in Life Sciences or other allied sciences or equivalent with 15 years R&D experience including Ph.D. of independent research experience demonstrated by strong publications and successful funding of competitive extramural Grants.
Should be an outstanding scientist with a strong and exceptional research record with independent discovery research and collaborative/thematic research of a high order.
Experience for Deputation : Scientists from Central/State Governments, Research institutes, Autonomous Bodies etc: - (i) Holding analogous post on a regular basis in the parent Department or (ii) With 5 years’ service in level 13-A or equivalent in the Parent cadre/Department and possessing the essential qualification and experience as mentioned above.
Desirable Qualifications : An outstanding scientist and educator whose research and teaching interests align with our commitment to advancing knowledge in developmental and reproductive sciences, with translational potential in regenerative medicine. Reservation/Relaxation Benefits : 
1. Reservation for SC/ST/OBC (NCL) Central List/PwBD will be applicable as per Govt. of India rules and guidelines, notifications, and amendments, etc., issued from time to time. 
2. Candidate(s) who wish to be considered against reserved vacancies and seek other concessions applicable to the reserved categories must submit the requisite certificate(s) in the prescribed proforma from the Competent Authority, for availing such reservation. 
3. A person seeking appointment on the basis of reservation to the OBC (NCL) Central List must ensure that he/she possesses the caste/community certificate (applicable for the Central list only) and does not fall in the creamy layer on the crucial date. The crucial date for this purpose will be the last date for receipt of online applications. The OBC(NCL) candidates applying for posts should submit an OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) certificate issued during the Financial Year (FY) 2025 – 2026 [issued on or after 01.04.2025]. 4. Caste certificate in the prescribed proforma has to be produced by the candidate seeking reservation as SC/ST/OBC (NCL) Central List from the Competent Authority, indicating clearly the candidate’s Caste, the Act/Order under which the Caste is recognized as SC/ST/OBC (NCL) Central List. A candidate will be eligible to get the benefit of community reservation only in case theparticular caste to which the candidate belongs is included in the list of reserved communities issued by the Central Government for that State. 
5. SC, ST, OBC (NCL) Central List, who are selected on their own merit without relaxed standards/concession (except fees), will not be adjusted against the reserved share of vacancies. Such candidates will be accommodated against the unreserved vacancies earmarked for the UR category. The reserved vacancies will be filled up separately from amongst the eligible SC, ST, OBC (NCL) Central List candidates. 6. SC, ST, and OBC(NCL) Central List candidates who qualify on the basis of relaxed standards, viz, age limit, experience or qualifications, extended zone of consideration (cut of marks) etc., irrespective of his/her merit position, will be counted against the reserved vacancy and not against unreserved vacancies. 
7. The candidate seeking the benefit of reservation must possess a valid caste certificate in the prescribed format, by DoPT, issued by an authority competent to issue such a certificate in the State on the closing date of application. In case the caste or income certificate is not in the prescribed format, the candidature will not be eligible for availing the reservation benefit for appointment. 8. Definition of Specified Disabilities is provided in the Schedule of Persons Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016. Degree of Benchmark Disability for reservation and Competent Authority for Issue of Disability Certificate: Only such persons would be eligible for relaxation in conditions/ reservation in posts who suffer from not less than 40% of relevant benchmark disability. Those Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) who have availed the relaxation and/or reservation and shortlisted for Document Verification have to submit Certificate of Disability issued by the Competent Authority as per the form V, VI and VII of rule 18(1) under chapter 7 of Rights of Persons with Disabilities Rules, 2017 dated 15.06.2017. Refer prescribed proformas for the revised formats. The existing certificates of disability issued under the Persons with Disabilities Act, 1995 (since repealed) shall continue to be valid for the period specified therein. 
9. Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) can apply to the respective posts even if the post is not reserved for them but has been identified as Suitable. However, such Applicants will be considered for selection to such a post by the general standard of merit. Persons suffering from not less than 40% of relevant disability shall alone be eligible for the benefit of reservation and other relaxations as permissible under the rules. Thus, PwBD persons can avail the benefit of reservation and other concessions and relaxations as permissible under the rules only when the degree of physical disability is 40% or more and the posts are suitable for PwBD candidates. 
10. Special Note for all Candidate(s) seeking reservation/relaxation benefits: All those candidate (s) seeking reservation/relaxation benefits available for SC/ST/OBC (NCL)/ PwBD must ensure that they are entitled to such reservation/relaxation as per the eligibility prescribed in the Rules/notice. They should be in possession of all the requisite certificates in the prescribed format in support of their claim as stipulated in the Rules/notice, on the last date of the receipt of the online application.

Exemption from Payment of Application Fee : As per the prevailing guidelines of the Government of India (i) SC/ST community and (ii) Women and PwBD category of any community are exempted from Application Fee. Supporting certificates should be uploaded for SC/ST & PwBD candidates. 
Payment of Application Fee : The Fee for applications other than exempted categories application fee is to be paid online through Credit Card/Debit Card/Net Banking/UPI. Application Fees paid by the candidates who have not submitted their application or whose application is not shortlisted will not be refunded. General Conditions & Important Notes
1. BRIC-inStem is a premier organization under the Biotechnology Research and Innovation Council, the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India, and its mandate is world- class research. The institute is looking for applicants with the requisite capabilities, skills, qualifications, aptitude, merit, and suitability to fulfill the institute’s objectives. Merely meeting minimum eligibility criteria will not automatically entitle a candidate to be called for assessment. The prospective applicants should align with the requirements of a scientific and research institute and be willing to work in a competitive environment with full enthusiasm and dedication. There is a probation period of 2 years for the posts. 
2. An incomplete online application, such as one without a photograph and signature, an inhuman/inappropriate photograph and/or signature uploaded in the online application form, or an unsuccessful fee payment, will not be considered valid. Incomplete applications will be summarily rejected, and no correspondence in this regard will be entertained. 
3. Candidates must ensure that he/she fulfills the eligibility criteria as stipulated in the advertisement before filling out the application. 
4. The cut-off date/crucial date for determining various eligibility criteria (Educational Qualifications, age limit, etc.) will be the last date for receipt of online applications, including the extended date, if any.

BRIC-inStem does not assume any responsibility for the candidates not being able to submit their applications within the last date on account of any reason or for any other reason beyond the control of the institute. 20. BRIC-inStem may retain data available in online applications received from candidates only for a limited period of six months after completion of the recruitment process i.e. the issuance of an offer letter to the selected candidate.

22. No person, (i) who had entered into or contracted a marriage with a person having a spouse living; or (ii) who has a spouse alive, has entered into or contracted a marriage with any person, shall be eligible for appointment to the said post.
23. All degrees acquired by the applicant should be from a recognized Institute/University. 
24. Candidates shortlisted for interview will have to produce original documents for verification in support of their application regarding reservation category, educational qualification, experience, and other claims. 
25. The period of experience shall be counted after the date of acquiring the minimum prescribed educational qualifications, i.e., only post-qualification experience will be counted. 
26. Any resultant dispute arising out of this advertisement shall be subject to the sole jurisdiction of the Hon’ble Courts situated at Bengaluru only. 
27. Candidate(s) should note that the Date of Birth as recorded in the Class 10th /Matriculation/Secondary Examination Certificate or marks sheet of Matriculation or equivalent Examination issued by the Central/State Board will be valid. 28. The terms of appointment shall be governed by the applicable rules, regulations, and by- laws of the Institute/Council, as may be amended from time to time.
