The National Institute of Immunology (NII) is committed to advanced research addressing the basic mechanisms involved in body's defence to identify modalities for manipulation of the immune system to provide protection against diseases and understand mechanisms that can be used to target disease processes for intervention.

Post : Junior Research Fellow (Project)

Duration : Six Months (6 Months)
Name of the Project : “Helix Invasive approach for targeting of duplex DNA for genetic therapy” funded by SERB
Educational Qualifications : M.Sc in any area of Life Sciences / Biotechnology / Biochemistry / Microbiology. The candidates should have qualified any ‘National Level Examination’.

Job Description : Hands-on experience in microbial-drug interaction study, antibiotic-resistance, handling of microbes, killing assays, UV spectroscopy, thin-layer chromatography, competent cell preparation, transformation, DNA/RNA isolation, PCR, primer designing, gene-cloning, gene analysis, biophysical analysis of DNA: PNA, Thermal melting studies, agarose gel electrophoresis, SDS-PAGE, routine molecular biology work, recombinant DNA, protein expression studies is required. Experience in Bioinformatics, handling of bacterial pathogens, bacterial cell culture, enzyme kinetics, cell culturing, fluorescence microscopy, MS-word, chem draw, EXCEL, data analysis, and report writing are desired but not necessary. Research projects require reviewing scientific literature and patents to gather key scientific information. Preference to be more experience candidate and have published research articles for support of required experiences.


Job Requirement : My lab is seeking an experienced individual with a passion for development of PNA-based antibiotic. To join a dynamic, interdisciplinary team of scientists focused on translational research. Selected candidate may participate in the synthesis, purification and characterization of peptide and small organic molecules, paper writing and documentation. Good communication skills, both verbally and in writing, as well as interpersonally and collaboratively. It would be beneficial if candidate had Industrial experience.

Emoluments : The selected candidate will draw Rs. 31,000/- per month plus 24% HRA (As per DST OM dated 30.01.2019).
