The Indian Pharmacopoeial Commission publishes Indian Pharmacopoeia (IP) on regular basis.The current edition of IP 2018 along with its two Addendum (2019 & 2021) contains 173 Monographs of Herbal Drugs/Processed Drugs (Extracts, Essential oils, Etc)/Herbal Formulations. There is a need to integrate IPC with Industry partners, particularly the Herbal drug industries, which are engaged in the herbal drug quality control and phytopharmaceutical development. In order to further strengthen the standard setting process and to ensure the compliance of strong regulatory framework for Herbal Drugs and Phytopharmaceuticals (As per the recent amendment in Drugs & Cosmetics Act, 1940 and Rules, 1945 framed there under, the G.S.R. 227(E), there is a need to create awareness and train the Stakeholders (Academia, Industry, Regulators.

• The CSIR-National Botanical Research Institute (NBRI) - is amongst one of the constituent research institutes of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), New Delhi.

OBJECTIVE OF THE PROGRAMME
• To create the awareness about the recent advancement in the field of quality standards and analytical techniques for herbal drugs and Phytopharmaceuticals.
• To address and redressal of the challenges associated within the development of standard setting procedures among the herbal drug and phytopharmaceutical drug products.


EXPECTED OUTCOME
• Phytopharmaceutical domain knowledge will expand among the profile users.
• Standard setting procedures related with the phytopharmaceutical drugs, will strengthen as the associated challenges may become redressed.
• Challenges associated with phytopharmaceutical drugs development may overcome through the execution of expansion of PPI monographs.
