CSIR the premier industrial R&D organization in India was established in 1942 by a resolution of the then Central Legislative Assembly. It is an autonomous body registered under the Registration of the Societies Act of 1860. The headquarter of CSIR is situated at Rafi Marg, New Delhi with its Directorates, Centres & Units in NCR at HRDG, Pusa Campus, New Delhi, TMD/IPU/TKDL at Satsang Vihar Marg, New Delhi and HRDC at Ghaziabad.
Applications are invited from Indian nationals for awarding of 16 (numbers) of Diamond Jubilee Research Internship, who are creative and have passion and desire to pursue S&T as a career. The total number of internship is tentative and may vary as per subsequent requirements.
CSIR Diamond Jubilee Research Intern Awards scheme is meant to be a preparatory phase for young interns imbibing the spirit of enquiry and learning the tools and techniques of research through participation and doing. The scheme thus seeks for young interns to gain from the knowledge and experience of accomplished scientists by working with them and to take up S&T as a career.
Eligibility : Essential Qualification: Minimum 1st Class or equivalent GPA in the BE/ B.Tech/ M.Sc, broadly in the area of Computer Science/ Information Technology, Mechanical Engineering, ECE, Life Science, Chemistry and Pharmacy. The details of the positions and related fields are as under :
Science : (i) M. Sc with 1st Class or equivalent GPA in the area of Chemistry / Life Science. OR (ii) Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy with 1st Class or equivalent GPA.
Engineering : B.E / B.Tech with 1st Class or equivalent GPA in Electronics & Communication Engineering / Computer Science / Information Technology / Mechanical Engineering.
Internship requirement : Selected interns would be required to assist the scientists in the various assignments in the field of Science & Engineering and related issues so as to impart hands on training in the area of the given subjects and related matters.
Age Limit : Not more than 25 yrs. as on the date of interview which is relaxable 05 years in case of SC/ ST/ Persons with Benchmark Disabilities/ female candidates and 03 years in case of OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates.
Stipend : Rs.24000/- per month consolidated. No other allowance is admissible.
Tenure : Maximum period of 02 years, not extendable under any circumstances and subject to satisfactory performance to be evaluated after every 06 months. The interns shall have no claim for further extension, absorption or regularization in CSIR after the expiry / termination of the internship. In case the performance is not satisfactory, the internship will be terminated with one month’s notice or one month’s stipend in lieu thereof. During the internship period, the intern would be free to appear for NET/GATE and secure regular fellowship for doing Ph.D.
Mode of Selection : Interested eligible candidates must report at the CSIR Vigyan Kendra reception desk at 9.00 A.M. positively. Selection of candidates for the Research Intern Awards would be based on their overall performance in interview.

The prescribed application form can be downloaded from CSIR website and duly filled in forms may be submitted at the time of interview. ‘Walk in interview’ will be held as per schedule given below :
1. For Science Subjects : 18th August, 2025 Reporting Time: 09.00 AM
2. For Engineering Subjects : 19th August, 2025 Reporting Time: 09.00 AM
The application forms should be accompanied by self-attested photograph and copies of testimonials/ certificates in support of age, educational qualifications, experience and caste / tribe etc. mentioned in the application. The applicant must also bring all original certificates/ testimonials at the time of test/ interview for verification.
