    ABSTRACT
Leptospirosis is a worldwide zoonotic infection with a much greater incidence in tropical regions and has now been identified as one of the emerging infectious diseases. The epidemiology of leptospirosis has been modified by changes in animal husbandry, climate, and human behavior. Resurgent interest in leptospirosis has resulted from large outbreaks that have received significant publicity.

    Abstract:
Chemicals are an integral part of our daily lives and are responsible for substantially improving them. Yet chemicals can also endanger our health, even our survival. This report focuses on neurotoxic substances, those chemicals that adversely affect the nervous system. Included among such substances are industrial chemicals, pesticides, therapeutic drugs, abused drugs, foods, food additives, cosmetic ingredients, and naturally occurring substances. Whether a substance causes an adverse health effect depends on many factors, including the toxicity of the substance, the extent of exposure, and an individual's age and state of health. Minimizing public health risks requires knowledge about the properties and mechanisms of action of potentially toxic substances to which humans may be exposed. The assessment includes discussion of industrial chemicals, pesticides, therapeutic drugs, substance drugs, foods, food additives, cosmetic ingredients, and such naturally occurring substances as lead and mercury. It does not include radioactive chemicals, nicotine, alcohol, biological and chemical warfare agents, microbial, plant, and animal toxins, and physical agents such as noise.

    ABSTRACT
The present work was aimed at formulation development, evaluation and comparative study of the effects of ethyl cellulose in Itopride HCL CR pellets. The controlled release polymers used for the present study were Ethylcellulose N-14 and Ethylcellulose N-20. The formulated pellets were evaluated for various pellet properties, like hardness, bulk density, tapped density, cars index and dissolution rate. Comparative evaluation of the above-mentioned parameters established the superiority of the pellets formulated with Ethylcellulose those formulated with different grades.
The main objective of this work is to develop and explore formulation as sustained release pellets of Itopride hydrochloride. From the literature it was found that different carriers like ethyl cellulose N-20, Ethyl cellulose N-50 were used to prepare controlled release pellets of water soluble drugs. Hence, in the present investigation it is aimed to test the suitability of using ethyl cellulose in the development of gastric retentive systems and for controlling the drug release from the pellets.

    Abstract:
The reliability of quantitative assays in determination of drugs in biological fluids using High-performance liquid chromatography with Tandem Mass spectrometric determination (LC-MS/MS) detection methods and the integrity of resulting Pharmacokinetic data may not be absolute, in contrary to common perceptions and possible conjectures. The results may be adversely affected by lack of specificity and selectivity due to ion suppression caused by the sample matrix and interferences from metabolites. The advancements in the past few years and new technologies introduced can be used in enhancing LC-MS/MS Bio-analytical method development by reducing matrix effects. This Article reviews Automated Sample preparation and various extraction techniques like liquid-liquid extraction, Solid phase extraction and protein precipitation which plays an important role in sample preparation and detection by LC-MS/MS. Potential drawbacks during method development and validation are pointed out.

    ABSTRACT
The aim of present research was to develop a fast releasing oral polymeric film, with good mechanical properties, instant disintegration and dissolution, producing an acceptable taste when placed on tongue. Solvent casting method was used to prepare oral films. cetirizine hydrochloride an antihistaminic was incorporated to relieve the symptoms of allergic rhinitis. The polymers selected were HPMC 3cps and PVA. Glycerin was the plasticizer used. Eight batches of films with drug were prepared using different combinations of polymer concentration. The resultant films were evaluated for weight variation, content uniformity, folding endurance, thickness, surface pH, tensile strength, % elongation, % moisture absorption, %moisture loss in vitro disintegration and in vitro dissolution. The optimized films have disintegrated within 28-60sec. The percentage release was varying with concentration of polymer. The films made with HPMC3cps 200 mg released 98.5% of drug in 2min, which was the best release amongst all.

The use of tobacco have been in existence for long and have also been widely abused. Tobacco is now the leading cause of preventable death in the world today. An estimate of more than 5 million deaths  are recorded world-wide, yearly. Prediction also shows that deaths caused by tobacco may escalate to about 8 million by 2030. Statistics have shown that one out of every five deaths annually is caused by cigarette smoking. This statistics reveals about 440,000 smoking-related deaths yearly, and about 49,000 of these deaths are due to passive smoking. Both voluntary and involuntary (passive) smokers are at risk of the effects of tobacco. The effects of tobacco includes increased stress, alteration of brain cells chemistry, alteration of lipid profile, facilitation of atherosclerosis, increase in heart-rate and blood pressure, gastroesophageal reflux disease, peptic ulcer disease, micro-nutrient disorders, oxidtive damage, bronchospasm, chronic mucus hypersecretion and chronic obstructive lung disease. But however, chronic mucus hypersecretion and chronic obstructive lung disease stands out to be the most disabling effect of tobacco. As these effects are known to reduce one's physical performance, breathing capacity as well as fitness (both present and future). It is therefore advised that better measures for controlling tobacco usage especially in public places should be employed. As this will help to reduce the treat it currently posess on public health (especially the high rate of chronic mucus hypersecretion and chronic obstructive lung disease occurrence caused by tobacco).
