Post: Clinical Coding Co-ordinator
Job Description:
1. Accountabilities as described in Senior Clinical Coding Specialist role.
2. Deputise for the Global Head of Coding when required.
3. Provide coaching, training and mentoring of CCS’s as required.
4. Appraisal and objective setting for CCS’s in conjunction with Global Head of Coding
5. Allocation of global group coding resources to support clinical project timelines, in conjunction with Global Head of Coding
6. Involvement in selection and recruitment of new permanent and contracted CCS staff.
7. Represent Novartis at external meetings relating to dictionary and coding matters.
Candidate Profile:
Education (minimum/desirable): Degree in life sciences, pharmacy, nursing or equivalent relevant experience.
Languages : Fluent in written and spoken English.
Experience/Professional requirement:
1. Typically 5 or more years experience in drug development, with at least 3 years relevant coding experience.
2. Thorough understanding of coding principles and the dictionary philosophy of MedDRA and WHODRL
3. Good computer skills
4. Attention to detail
5. Good organisational, planning and leadership skills
6. Good interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to operate effectively in an international environment.
7. Good negotiation skills
8. Thorough understanding of physiology, pharmacology, clinical study objectives and the drug development process.
9. Practical understanding, ability and appropriate application of programming using available software to assist in coding and review of the clinical data.
10. Awareness of GCP and regulatory requirements
