Career for Scientific Consultant at VCRC

ICMR-Vector Control Research Centre, an autonomous Institute, under the Indian Council of Medical Research, Department of Health Research, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India intends to engage Consultant (Scientific) purely on contractual basis for a period of one year. Retired Scientists (Non-Medical) from Central / State Government / Autonomous Organizations / Public Sector Undertaking are eligible for consideration for the above position.

Post : Consultant (Scientific)

Duties / Responsibilites
(a) Maintenance of Wolbachia infected Aeges aegypti Puducherry strains in the Insectary.
(b) Evaluation of newer vector control products/ tools in different settings.
(c) Vector surveillance, systematics and bionomics in relation to formulating appropriate site- specific control strategies.
(d) Technical support to carry out entomological investigation of Kyasanur Forest Disease and other ectoparasitic vectors of rickettsial pathogens.
(e) Capacity building: Training of national and international public health personnel on various aspects of disease vectors and their control. Handling of theory and practical classes for M. Sc., Public Health Entomology course run by ICMR-VCRC, Puducherry.
(f) Preparation/revision of Common protocols for uniform evaluation of public health pesticides at different phases.
(g) Advocacy for vector control in Puducherry and neighbouring states.
(h) Any other work assigned by the Director, ICMR-VCRC, Puducherry from time to time within the period of contract.

Eligibility & other criteria:-
Professionals having proven competency should possess Ph.D., in Life Sciences / Biological Sciences from a recognized University with Research & Development experience and published papers in his / her area of work.

Retired Government employees with relevant qualification and drawing pay in Pay Band Rs 15,600-39,100 plus Grade Pay ^ 5,400 & above (Pay Matrix-Level 10 & above as per 7th CPC) at the time of retirement with 20 years experience in the required field.

Age : Below 70 years (on the last date of receipt of application) i.e., 02.11.2020

Consolidated emoluments : Maximum : Rs 60,000/- per month (consolidated)

Tenure: The initial term of engagement will be for not more than one year and subsequent extension if any, will be considered depending upon the requirement.

Place of duty : ICMR-Vector Control Research Centre, Medical Complex, Indira Nagar, Puducherry. The selected candidate should also be prepared to work anywhere in India, as per requirement
