Job Description
The Procurement Director is a senior role operating in a highly complex, competitive environment. The job holder will influence stakeholders enterprise-wide to become advocates of Production Procurement through demonstrated delivery and win-win partnerships, securing a competitive advantage for GSK.

This role will be accountable for developing and delivering procurement commodity strategies which support the strategic ambitions of GSK Pharma and Consumer Healthcare.

The role demands strong leadership to drive step change improvement in supplier quality, performance, and in the delivery of innovation from the supplier base.

• Accountable for developing procurement strategies for selected categories across Global Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API’s), spend > £ 150 million annually, > 100 suppliers, > 100 APIs

• Display leadership behaviours aligned with GSK values to drive a culture of collaboration and engagement across the global organization

• Embed a performance management system including KPI’s to drive mutual collaboration with the regional teams and support the global strategies

• Build close partnerships and alignment across all sites and regions where the materials/services in scope of the role are consumed.

• Accountable for implementation of procurement strategies and delivery of procurement savings globally.

• Engagement with stakeholders across the E2E supply chain – working collaboratively with all Supply Chain stakeholders (Pharma and Consumer) across the business to drive sourcing strategies.

• Active involvement in development and deployment of the Supply Chain strategies.

• Accountable for delivery of robust market intelligence assessment and act as the business expert for the category in GSK

Develop the capabilities & behaviours of the Global API’s team resources focused around: Alignment (understand the needs of our business partners, patients and consumers); Collaboration (internally as one team, plus across the business); Leadership (bring opportunities form the supply base to our business partners and create buy-in and develop a culture of taking calculated risks to maximise opportunity and benefit); & Capabilities (the right people, capabilities, structure & WOW to operate successfully on a global scale).

• Developing & Embedding Processes & Ways of Working: champion, imbed & integrate new / revised processes and systems into the region as are they are rolled-out through the centre-lead initiatives

Basic qualifications:
• University Qualified

• Credible and recognised global procurement leader with Procurement experience gained in Pharmaceutical, Healthcare or FMCG Environment.

• Highly developed commercial acumen with demonstrated success in delivering a competitive commercial advantage. Successful multi-year track record in delivering year on year savings in a challenging economic climate.

• Demonstrated ability to forge close business relationships with internal and external stakeholders at senior leadership level.

• Skilled negotiator adept at managing complex negotiations at management level with both external and internal stakeholders

• Expertise in delivering change programmes to switch supply base to achieve lower cost whilst retaining secure supply.

• Expertise in manufacturing processes and regulatory requirements.

• Project and Change management experience with strong leadership and team development

• Working knowledge of applicable federal, state and local laws/regulations

Preferred qualifications:
• Master level degree in chemistry, chemical engineering or MBA.

• High energy, enthusiastic and results driven with strong business acumen.

• Distinctive people leadership/management skills, both downward and upward.

• Resilient and persistent with the ability to make the right decisions.

• Develop and present persuasive arguments to deliver change and influence stakeholders.

• Creative, conceptual thinker, exceptional problem solving/analytical skills.

• Possess strong interpersonal skills.

• Able to work in a matrix environment and with a high tolerance for ambiguity.

• Strong verbal and written skills (English).
