Job Description
Reporting to the Head of the Department of Chemical and Pharmaceutical Sciences, you will carry out research in your specialised area, as well as teach and assess students’ work, supervise projects, and ensure students are properly supported and inspired to achieve. With expertise in organic and pharmaceutical chemistry and the ability to offer other areas of basic chemistry, you will contribute to the teaching of these subjects on graduate and undergraduate courses in the School. You will conduct independent research in an area of chemistry relevant to the role. IT literate and dynamic, you will also have the chance to develop your skills in academic management, student recruitment and course development.

 

Candidate Profile
Ideally with experience of teaching in higher education, you will hold or be working towards an appropriate teaching qualification, and hold a PhD in organic or pharmaceutical chemistry or similar. This will be complemented with a BSc or MChem in chemistry. Committed to innovation in learning and teaching practice, you will have experience of working on research projects or contributing to a research group within the subject area. This will be complemented by the communication and influencing skills to explain complex concepts in a simple yet engaging way to a diverse range of students.
