The Virus Research Center (VRC), Pune came into existence in 1952 under the joint auspices of the ICMR and the 
“Chandan Health Centres”, started by the Chandan group, are providing diagnostic services as well as have retail outlets for medicines in 9 states with 80 centres. The company is setting up 1000 “Chandan Health Centres” (company owned and operated) in the next 5 years. These centres will have diagnostic services as well as retail pharmacy stores.
