Shivalik College of Pharmacy, Nangal is providing advanced technical education in the field of Pharmacy to the rural youth of this area since 1983. The college is affiliated to PTU and approved by AICTE New Delhi, and also approved by Govt of Punjab. The college is being financed by Municipal Council Nangal and managed by Managing Committee constituted by the Honble Governor of Punjab. The Director & Secretary, Local Govt. of Punjab is the Chairman of the Managing Committee.

Smt. Sharadchandrika Suresh Patil College of Pharmacy Chopda was established in 1992 as self financed pharmacy college in the North Maharashtra University, (NMU) Jalgaon. The institution has made a steady progress during last 24 years. In the year 2006 with the intention of making this institution a centre of higher learning, started M. Pharm. in Pharmaceutics (2006) later M. Pharm in Pharmacognosy (2007) and centre for Ph. D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences (2011). All the courses conducted in this Institution are recognized by Pharmacy Council of India, New Delhi, All India Council for Technical Education, New Delhi.

Higher education in Tripura had a late start. Maharaja Bir Bikram (MBB) College, the first degree college in the State, started functioning under the University of Calcutta only in 1947. Not that there was no attempt in the past in Princely Tripura to establish any higher educational institution. As early as 1901, Radhakishore Manikya made an attempt to establish a degree college in the-then tiny capital town Agartala; but as the proposal did not fulfill the necessary requirements, it did not get approval from the Calcutta University. In 1937, Bir Bikramkishore Manikya, the last Maharaja of Tripura, had planned for establishing a college again at Agartala and an area of 254 acres of land, consisting of undulated tilla land having interposed lakes almost all around, in the eastern part of Agartala, was earmarked for that under the “Vidyapattan Scheme”.

It has grown leaps and bounds since then to become the epicentre for patient care from across Haryana as well as neighbouring States. In its nascent stage, Medical College was started as guest Institute in 1960 at Medical College, Patiala. Due to high demand for medical education and a deficient patient care services in the southern part of Haryana which was the then part of Punjab, it was shifted to Rohtak in 1963 during the tenure of Sardar Partap Singh Kairon who was then Chief Minister of Punjab.
