The Minister of Health & Family Welfare Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda successfully steered the proceedings of the 68th Session of the World Health Assembly in his capacity as its President. It was after a gap of 19 years that India assumed the Presidency of the World Health Assembly, the highest decision making body of the World Health Organisation. The 68th WHA took place in Geneva from 18-26 May 2015.
An autonomous body under the AYUSH department of Union Health Ministry is planning to tieup with top homeopathy research organisations with an aim of boosting the healthcare industry. Health ministry to amend Form 12-B of D&C Rules; Form 12-B of the Drugs and Cosmetics Rules is for giving permission for import of small quantities of drugs for personal use. The Union health ministry will soon amend Rules in this regard.

To ensure medicines sold in the country are genuine products, the health ministry has developed a 'Track and Trace' mechanism which will enable consumers to check safety and authenticity of a drug through the internet. Barcode helps in tracking and tracing origin of drugs, which minimises the chances of genuine medicines being considered spurious, sub-standard or counterfeit. The Pharmaceutical exporters keep demand in front of Union commerce ministry to exempt barcodes on mono cartons as a secondary level packaging on pharmaceuticals and drugs export consignment which is to be implemented from April 1, 2015 for tracing and tracking purposes.
