    Abstract
This study investigated the anti-inflammatory activity of the methanolic extract of Cissampelos pareira (Abuta) in male albino rats after intramuscular administration. This was done using the carragenin-induced paw edema method. Methanolic extract of Cissampelos pareira showed significant anti-inflammatory activity similar to ibuprofen and indomethacin.

    Dist:Khurda, Odhisa -751015

    Abstract:
Two methods are described for the simultaneous determination of Paracetamol and Chlorzoxazone in binary mixture. The first method was based on UV-spectrophotometric determination of two drugs, using simultaneous equation method. It involves absorbance measurement at 282.5 nm (λmax of Chlorzoxazone) and 248.0 nm (λmax of Paracetamol) in methanol; linearity was obtained in the range of 5 – 25 μg.mL-1 for both the drugs. The second method was based on HPLC separation of the two drugs in reverse phase mode using Promosil C18 column. Linearity was obtained in the concentration range of 100-500 μg.mL-1 for Paracetamol and 50-250 for  the Chlorzoxazone. Both these methods have been successively applied to pharmaceutical formulation and were validated according to ICH guidelines.

    INTRODUCTION
Oral administration is the most convenient and preferred means of any drug delivery to the systematic circulation. Oral controlled release drug delivery have recently been of increasing interest in pharmaceutical field to achieve improved therapeutic advantages, such as ease of dosing administration, patient compliance and flexibility in formulation. Drugs that are easily absorbed from gastrointestinal tract (GIT) and have short half-lives are eliminated quickly from the systemic circulation. Frequent dosing of these drugs is required to achieve suitable therapeutic activity.
