The National Centre for Cell Science (NCCS) took birth as National Tissue Culture Facility in March 11, 1986 with a mandate of basic research, teaching & training, and as a national repository for cell lines/hybridomas etc.  The centre is located in the midst of academically enriched environment of University of Pune campus, Pune.

The Maharaja Sayajirao's grandson Sir Pratapsinghrao Gaekwad who founded the Maharaja Sayajirao University and settled the trust as desired by his grandfather. This Trust known as Sir Sayajirao Diamond Jubilee and Memorial Trust exists today also and caters to the educational and other needs of the people of the former state of Baroda.

It gives me immense pleasure to welcome the prospective students  to the Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram University of Science & Technology, Murthal. Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (IICT), Hyderabad, a constituent of CSIR is a leading research Institute in the area of chemical sciences. It was established as Central Laboratories for Scientific and Industrial Research (CLSIR) in the year 1944 by the Nizam State and after independence it was brought under the CSIR as Regional Research Laboratory. It was rechristened as CSIR- IICT in the year 1989 as it acquired a national character.

The institute has evolved over the years into a multi-disciplinary research organization with stress on fundamental research in its pursuit of advancement of knowledge in Science and technology and at the same time developing highly competent and able scientific manpower for the country.
