Translational Health Science and Technology Institute (THSTI) is an autonomous Institute of the Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Govt. of India. Indian Medicines Pharmaceutical Corporation Limited (IMPCL) is a CPSE under the administrative control of Ministry of AYUSH, Govt. of India which is engaged in Manufacturing and Marketing of Ayurvedic and Unani Medicines.

The Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission (IPC) has been established as an Autonomous Institution under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India primarily with the objective of regularly updating the Indian Pharmacopoeia (an official book for setting standards of drugs in the Country) by publishing new edition and its addenda, National Formulary of India (reference book for rational use of generic medicines) and carrying out other related tasks such as providing Reference Substances to the stakeholders & conducting skill development programme

Virudhunagar district came into existence by the bifurcation of Ramanathapuram district vide State Government Notification, G.O. Ms. 347 dated 8.3.1985.
