Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Center for Biomedical Research (ACBR) was established in March 1991 as part of Centenary celebrations of Baba Saheb Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and its foundation stone was laid by the Hon'ble Prime Minister of India Sh. Chander Shekhar Ji on 31 st March 1991.The mandate of the Centre is postgraduate education and research in Biomedical Sciences.

Aiming to understand the potential health benefits of rotavirus vaccination and also to develop a national representative data on rotavirus burden and strains in India, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) will soon embark on task force projects on burden of rotavirus diarrhoea in India under the Indian Rotavirus Surveillance Network.
