The National Institute of Immunology (NII) is committed to advanced research addressing the basic mechanisms involved in body's defence to identify modalities for manipulation of the immune system to provide protection against diseases and understand mechanisms that can be used to target disease processes for intervention. The institute’s research thrust areas under immunology and related disciplines cluster in four main themes, namely, infection and immunity, molecular design, gene regulation and reproduction and development, where cutting edge research in modern biology is being carried out.

National Agri-Food Biotechnology Institute (NABI), Mohali, is an autonomous R&D Institute under Department of Biotechnology, Government of India. The institute is establishing a state of art facility in the area of genomics (ABI 3730xl, RT-PCR, DNA analyzer, bioanalyzer, liquid handling system, automated DNA extraction system, LCM, Mass-Array (sequenom), etc), proteomics (MALDI-TOF-TOF, Q-TOF, nano-LC, HPLC, GCMS-MS, HP-TLC, UPLC, etc.), high performance computing facility, and food science (NIR, FTIR, SEM, etc.).The institute carries out cutting edge research at the interface of agricultural biotechnology, bioinformatics, food processing, and nutritional sciences.

British Council, India in collaboration with Department of Science and technology (DST) and Department of Biotechnology (DBT), India are pleased to invite applications for funding to support short-term PhD placements between the UK and Indian institutions.
The programme will sponsor UK and Indian PhD scholars to spend a period of their study (2 to 4 months) in Indian and UK higher education institutions between April to December 2017. Through this opportunity, scholars will learn new research skills or techniques, develop international training pathways, access facilities or resources which may not be readily available in their home country and build relationships with potential new collaborators, including industry partners where relevant. The Indian Institute of Science Education & Research (IISER) Mohali was established in 2007 by the Government of India, through the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), to carry out research in frontier areas of science and to provide quality science education at the undergraduate and postgraduate level. The foundation stone was laid on 27^th September 2006 by the Prime Minister of India. The first Director Prof.N Sathyamurthy joined on 18^th June 2007. Classes for the first MS (Int) batch began on 16^th August 2007. The transit campus was inaugurated on 13^th Nov. 2007.
