This centre which was started by ICMR basically to solve problems in blood banking, slowly branched out successfully to initiate research in various other related areas of immunohaematology viz. biochemical genetics, red cell enzymopathies and hemoglobinopathies, population genetics, antenatal serology, Immunology, HLA etc. In the first twenty five years, using limited space, limited resources and budget, talented and highly enthusiastic young scientists from the center under the guidance of dynamic stalwarts Dr. H M Bhatia and Dr. A J Baxi could produce as many as 271 publications of which 71 were published in prestigious international journals. The centre had many discoveries to it's credit. Seeing this progress, ICMR decided to rechristen BGRC as 'Institute of Immunohaematolgy' at the time of the Silver Jubilee Celebrations of the Institute in 1982 to accommodate all the departments of the centre under one roof.

Dattakala College of Pharmacy has been established in 2014.The Dattakala Shikshan Sanstha has about 30 acres campus and is situated at Gat No.541 &527, Swami-Chincholi, Tal-Daund, Dist-Pune. This campus is near Bhigwan town and is connected by road (Pune-Solapur Highway 100 km) and rail (Bhigwan Station 4Km.). Our college is approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) New Delhi, Pharmacy Council of India (PCI), New Delhi, Government of Maharashtra / Directorate of Technical Education, Mumbai, and is affiliated to Savitribhai Phule Pune University (SPPU), Pune.

Government College of Pharmacy, Aurangabad has been started in 1996 with the efforts of Honorable Late Shri. Govindbhaiji Shroff as a part of his social obligation to which Marathwada region was awaiting. Initially it has been started as one of the Departments of Government College of Engineering. Khadki Cantonment is one of the oldest Cantonments in India, having its own place in history. On 5th November 1817, the battle of Khadki (Khadki) was fought between the Marathas and the British on the ground covering the present day town. It was established in the year 1817. Khadki Cantonment covers an area of 3275.49 acres or 13.25 sq. km of land. In 1939, when the Second World War began, Khadki was called the Home of Ordnance since both the Khadki Arsenal and the I.A.O.C. School were located here.
