The National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) set up Indian Immunologicals Ltd. (IIL) in 1982 with the objective of making Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) vaccine available to farmers at an affordable price. The technology for FMD vaccine manufacture was obtained from M/s. Wellcome Foundation Limited, United Kingdom. The plant in Hyderabad today has a capacity to make 80 million trivalent doses of FMD vaccine.

The Blood  Group Reference Centre (BGRC)  made its debut in 1957  as a result of active interest shown by Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR)  in the field of blood banking.

The Institute of Pharmacy has been established with a view to promote excellence in pharmaceutical education and to prepare young men and women to meet the challenges in the area of pharmaceutical industries, education, research and development and marketing. We aim to provide degree, postgraduate, doctoral and postdoctoral level education at this centre of excellence.
