Rajendra Memorial Research Institute of Medical Sciences (RMRIMS), Patna was established in the memory of the First President of Republic of India Deshratna Dr. Rajendra Prasad in the year 1963 with Asthma as its mandate. It was taken over by Indian Council of Medical Research, New Delhi on 1st April, 1984 under Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of India and thereafter the main thrust area is Visceral Leishmaniasis (Kala-azar).

National Institute of Unani Medicine has been developed as a centre of excellence for PG Teaching and Research in Unani Medicine by Dept. of AYUSH, Govt. of India. Presently MD courses are available in 5 disciplines of Unani Medicine viz Moalajat, Ilmul Advia, Tahaffuzi wa Samaji Tib, Amraze Niswan wa Ilmul Qabala and Ilmul Saidla. The Institute is starting PG courses in Kulliyat Umoore Tabiya, Ilajbit Tadbeer and Jarahiyat from next Academic Session.
