Saveetha College of Pharmacy, Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Sciences (SIMATS), Chennai, successfully organized an insightful webinar entitled “Role of Artificial Intelligence in Pharmacy Careers & IT Impact”; jointly in collaboration with the Indian Pharmaceutical Association (IPA) - Hospital Pharmacy Division and RISE Trainings, Bengaluru.
The session highlighted the integration of AI and IT in drug discovery, clinical practice, and healthcare systems. The objective of the event was to bridge the knowledge gap between traditional pharmacy education and emerging technological advancements shaping the future of the profession.
The keynote session was delivered by Mr. Ch. Kiran Kumar (Founder and CEO, RISE Trainings) on how AI is revolutionizing drug development processes through predictive modeling, virtual screening, and data analytics. The session discussed the application of machine learning algorithms in pharmacovigilance, personalized medicine, and clinical decision support systems. Special emphasis was given to the role of IT in improving healthcare delivery, electronic health records (EHR), telemedicine, and digital therapeutics.
The collaboration with the IPA Hospital Pharmacy Division brought valuable clinical perspectives, particularly on how AI can enhance medication safety, optimize hospital pharmacy operations, and support clinical pharmacists in evidence-based decision-making, delivered by Dr. Rathinavelu Mohanraj (EC Member - IPA Hospital Pharmacy Division). Overall, the program was highly informative and successfully highlighted the critical role of artificial intelligence and IT in transforming pharmacy careers and healthcare systems.
