Global biotechnology company Regeneron Pharmaceuticals has announced plans to establish its first Global Capability Centre (GCC) outside the United States in Hyderabad, further strengthening Telangana's position as a leading destination for global life sciences and technology investments.
The announcement was made following a meeting between a Regeneron delegation led by Senior Vice President Bari Kowal and Telangana IT & Industries Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu at the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Telangana Secretariat. During the meeting, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was exchanged between Regeneron and Telangana Life Sciences, represented by CEO Sarvesh Singh.
Welcoming the investment, Sridhar Babu said Hyderabad continues to attract global corporations due to its world-class infrastructure, strong innovation ecosystem, and availability of highly skilled talent. He noted that the growing number of GCCs in the city is creating significant employment opportunities for technology and engineering professionals.
Regeneron, headquartered in Tarrytown, New York, is recognized globally for its innovative biotechnology research and medicines. While the company already operates offices and manufacturing facilities in several countries, including Ireland, the United Kingdom, Germany, and the Netherlands, the Hyderabad facility will be its first GCC outside the US.
According to the company, the Hyderabad centre will serve as a strategic global hub supporting various business and research functions. The facility is expected to contribute to areas such as clinical trial operations, data science, artificial intelligence engineering, digital technologies, and commercial analytics.
The Minister highlighted that Hyderabad is home to nearly 450 GCCs and has emerged as India's second-largest GCC destination. He emphasized that Telangana's thriving ecosystem in biotechnology, life sciences, artificial intelligence, and digital innovation continues to attract multinational companies looking to expand their global footprint.
Sridhar Babu also pointed to major state initiatives, including the expansion of Genome Valley and the development of Green Pharma City, as key factors driving Telangana's growth as a global life sciences hub.
The proposed GCC is expected to generate a substantial number of high-value employment opportunities in the coming years, further reinforcing Hyderabad's reputation as a preferred destination for innovation-driven investments.
The meeting was attended by Regeneron Senior Vice President Bari Kowal, Executive Director Rajiv Onat, company representatives, and senior officials from the Industries Department.
