Pharma Innovation Gets a Boost as NIPER Mohali Joins Hands with Novartis

In a significant move to strengthen India’s pharmaceutical research ecosystem, the National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER), Mohali has signed an agreement with Novartis Healthcare Private Limited. The collaboration aims to promote innovation and deepen industry-academia partnerships in the country.

The agreement introduces the “Development Pioneer Grant for NIPERs,” a competitive initiative designed to support cutting-edge research by faculty members. A total of 42 research proposals were submitted from across seven NIPER institutes, reflecting strong academic interest, but only one faculty member from NIPER Mohali was selected after a rigorous evaluation process.

Senior officials highlighted that such initiatives will help align academic research more closely with industry needs. The grant is expected to enhance research capabilities, encourage innovation-driven projects, and contribute to advancements in healthcare solutions in India.

The partnership also reflects a broader vision of building a robust pharmaceutical innovation ecosystem by encouraging collaboration between academia and industry. Experts believe that expanding such programs can significantly improve the real-world impact of research outcomes.

Overall, the initiative marks a step forward in bridging the gap between scientific research and industry application, fostering growth and innovation in India’s pharmaceutical sector.
