Glenmark Expands U.S. Injectable Portfolio with Launch of Generic Lacosamide Injection

Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Ltd. has announced that its U.S.-based subsidiary, Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Inc., USA, has launched Lacosamide Injection USP 200 mg/20 mL (10 mg/mL) Single-Dose Vials in the United States market. The product is the generic equivalent of Vimpat Injection marketed by UCB Inc. and is indicated for the treatment of seizures associated with epilepsy.

The newly launched injection is bioequivalent and therapeutically equivalent to the reference listed drug, providing healthcare providers and patients with an additional affordable treatment option in the hospital and acute care setting.

According to IQVIA sales data cited by the company, the U.S. market for Vimpat Injection recorded annual sales of approximately USD 15.2 million for the twelve-month period ending April 2026, highlighting a meaningful opportunity in the injectable anti-epileptic segment.

Commenting on the launch, Marc Kikuchi, President and Business Head, North America, said that the introduction of Lacosamide Injection reflects Glenmark’s ongoing strategy to build a differentiated product portfolio in the United States. He added that expanding the company's injectable offerings will help address evolving healthcare needs while improving access to quality and cost-effective medicines.

The launch further strengthens Glenmark's presence in the U.S. generics market, particularly in the injectable medicines segment, which has become a key focus area for the company in recent years. The company has continued to broaden its portfolio through a series of product launches aimed at serving hospitals and healthcare institutions across North America.

With the addition of Lacosamide Injection, Glenmark continues to reinforce its commitment to expanding access to affordable treatment options while enhancing its footprint in the highly regulated U.S. pharmaceutical market.
