SUMMARY OF THE EVENT SIMATS 
College of Pharmacy, Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Sciences (SIMATS), Chennai organized an International Webinar on “Community Connect: Pharmaceutical Care Everywhere” jointly in collaboration with Association of Community Pharmacists of India (ACPI) on March 27, 2026 (Friday) through Google Meet at 10:00 Hrs. The webinar aimed to highlight the importance of advancing global pharmaceutical care through active community engagement and collaborative practice. 

The webinar commenced with a welcome address given by Dr. Mohanraj Rathinavelu (Associate Professor, SIMATS College of Pharmacy, Chennai), introducing the theme and objectives of the program. 

The speakers delivered insightful presentations focusing on: the expanding scope of community pharmacy practice globally, strategies to improve patient outcomes through pharmaceutical care, role of pharmacists in public health and chronic disease management, and the importance of community engagement in ensuring rational use of medicines. Dr. Mahadev Bhatt (Clinical and Community Pharmacist, California, United States), shared international perspectives on community pharmacy services, emphasizing patient counseling, medication therapy management, and healthcare accessibility. Dr. Anantha Naik Nagappa (President, Association of Community Pharmacists of India - ACPI) discussed the Indian scenario, highlighting the challenges and opportunities in strengthening community pharmacy practice in India. 

The webinar witnessed active participation from students, academicians, and healthcare professionals. An interactive question-and-answer session allowed participants to clarify their queries and gain deeper insights from the experts. The session was highly informative and helped participants understand the critical role of community pharmacists in improving healthcare  delivery. It also inspired students and professionals to actively contribute to community-oriented pharmaceutical care. The event successfully achieved its goal of promoting awareness about the significance of community pharmacy in advancing global healthcare.
