Biodeal Pharmaceuticals Limited has strengthened its sterile injectable manufacturing and CDMO capabilities by acquiring a manufacturing facility of Biological E. Limited at Paonta Sahib in Himachal Pradesh.
The acquisition is part of Biodeal’s broader strategy to expand its pharmaceutical contract development and manufacturing capabilities and build a stronger presence in regulated international markets. The acquired manufacturing facility spans approximately 14 acres and has an annual production capacity of around 135 million units.
The facility currently supports the manufacturing of general injectable products and carbapenems in vial formats. Biodeal also sees opportunities to expand the site’s capabilities into advanced injectable formats, including pre-filled syringes (PFS) and lyophilised injectable products.
The acquisition is expected to strengthen Biodeal’s position in sterile pharmaceutical manufacturing, a segment that requires sophisticated aseptic processing, stringent quality systems and robust contamination-control measures.
According to the company, it is pursuing PIC/S and European Union accreditation for the facility as it works to expand its presence in regulated international markets.
Biodeal said the acquisition and planned investment represent a total outlay of more than ₹400 crore. The investment is aimed at developing manufacturing infrastructure, enhancing regulatory capabilities and building a scalable CDMO platform from India.
The Paonta Sahib facility will add sterile injectable manufacturing to Biodeal’s existing CDMO capabilities, which include pharmaceutical formulations, nasal drug delivery, dry powder inhalers, tablets, capsules and nutraceutical products.
The acquisition gives Biodeal an expanded platform for serving pharmaceutical companies looking for manufacturing partners across multiple dosage forms.
With additional investments and regulatory development planned at the Paonta Sahib site, the company aims to expand into advanced injectable products and increase its ability to serve customers in India as well as regulated overseas markets.
The move represents another step in Biodeal Pharmaceuticals’ strategy to build an integrated pharmaceutical manufacturing and CDMO platform from India.
