Gujarat State Pharmacy Council has recently organized Two days Refresher Course at Asmita Bhawan, Ahmedabad on 22nd & 23rd June 2019. More than 400 pharmacists took part in this refresher course organized by Gujarat State Pharmacy Council. The event of inaugural ceremony was begun with simultaneous recitation of some shlokas in praise of Almighty.

Our chief guest honorable Dr. Pankajbhai Patel (Chairman & Managing Director Zydus Cadilla Group) Special Guest Mr. M. M. Prabhakar (Superintendent Civil Hospital), Guest of the function Dr. Chahaganbhai Patel (Member PCI & Member GSPC), Mr. Montukumar Patel (President-GSPC), Mr. Hitesh Bhuria Sir (Member & Treasurer- GSPC), Mrs. Niketa Patel (I/C Registrar-GSPC) gave their valuable presence at the inaugural ceremony.

“Launch of 1st issue of PHARMAZEST news bulletin”

First issue of news bulletin “Pharmazest” the official publication of Gujarat State Pharmacy Council was launched by Dr. Pankajbhai Patel (Chairman & Managing Director Zydus Cadilla Group), with other dignitaries present at function.

Programme continued with speech of dignitaries on the dais. Honorable chief guest Dr Pankajbhai Patel (Chairman & Managing Director Zydus Cadilla Group) has given weight on the fact that why pharmacists in India are not treated like doctors, as it is in developing Countries. He encouraged all candidates to get such respect, and to be aware of the latest knowledge of drugs, doses and newer advancements for upliftment of professional values. As the technology progressing quickly, we have to stay updated with it or else we may not survive this competition.

Mr. Montukumar Patel (President- GSPC) gave very good insights & important information about innovative practices like Online Job Portal, Drug Information Center, Registration & Guidance Camps, and refresher courses. Sir shaded light on current activities of Gujarat State Pharmacy Council regarding E-pharmacy, unemployment issues, also shown great concern about fake Diploma pharmacy certificates circulating in market etc.

Online Job Portal is a common platform provided by Gujarat State Pharmacy Council for job Providers and job seekers. Drug information center executive provides 100% authentic information within 1 hour to 72 hours after arrival of drug and disease related query. All this services provided free of cost by Gujarat State Pharmacy Council. During Registration & Guidance Camps whole staff of Gujarat State Pharmacy Council provides their services at distanced areas of Gujarat with special consideration of woman, aged and disabled pharmacists.

Dr. Chhaganbhai Patel Sir enlightened us about the difference between E-prescription and online Pharmacy. He stated that as a part of continuous education programme Gujarat State Pharmacy Council has arranged number of refresher courses and till date around 40,000 pharmacists has took part in such courses, note of this activity of Gujarat State Pharmacy Council was taken on national level.

An important updation about innovative activities of Gujarat State Pharmacy Council was presented by Ms. Dipali Savaliya (Executive officer-GSPC). The First session comprised of a series of plenary lecturers delivered by Eminent Speakers; on various burning issues faced by registered pharmacist during their day to day professional life. The First session began with a highly informative lecture on the topic “Case Studies” by Dr. Prakash shah (Exe. Member- GSPC, and Senior Lecturer- Shantilal Shah Pharmacy College).

The second plenary lecture was on “Pharmacovigilance-role of pharmacists” by Dr. Chetna Desai (HOD, Department of Pharmacology- B. J. Medical College). She gave us good insights about Pharmacovigilance programme in India and role of vigilant pharmacists in it.

Dr. Manoj P. Gadhvi (Assistant Commissioner, Food and Drug Control Administration). He delivered talk on “Vigillant pharmacists and spurious drugs” and second session was taken by Dr. Jayesh Patel (Sr. Drug Inspector Food and Drug Control Administration) and his topic was “drugs and magic remedies act 1954 and rules 1955”.

Our Guest of Honor Shri Pradipbhai Parmar (MLA, Gujarat government.) spent some quality time and discussed about important role of pharmacists in our community with candidate pharmacists. The last session of refresher course was covered by Ms. Khushi Pathak (Executive officer-GSPC) on “Narcotic and Psychotropic Substance Act 1985” She explained various regulation about Psychotropic drugs and role of pharmacist in handling of prescription and psychotropic drugs. Participants appreciated two days refresher course in their feedback.

At Valedictory function, our Honorable Chief Guest Shri V. G. Vanzara Sir (Additional Secretary Health & Family Welfare Dept.) appreciated activities of Gujarat State Pharmacy Council and praised for its noteworthy work on refresher course at national level. Sir has emphasized on knowledge updation among young pharmacists.

This “Two Days Refresher Course for Registered Pharmacist” was organized by Gujarat State Pharmacy Council (GSPC) at Asmita Bhavan Civil Hospital, Ahmedabad under the guidance of Course director Mr. Hitesh Bhuria Sir (Member & Treasurer- GSPC), course Coordinator was Mrs Niketa Patel (I/C Registrar- GSPC), Course Co-Coordinator were Ms. Dipali Savaliya & Ms. Khushi Pathak (Executive Officers- Drug Information Center- GSPC).
