IICB Institute was established in 1935 as the first non official centre in India for biomedical research and was included within the aegis of CSIR in 1956. IICB today is engaged in research on diseases of national importance and biological problems of global interest, employing sophisticated state-of-the-art technology in keeping with the rapid and unprecedented momentum that life science research has gained globally over the last 50 years. IICB is one of the major institutes in India which initiated, right from its inception, multidisciplinary concerted efforts for conducting basic research on infectious diseases, specifically leishmaniasis and cholera, along with the development of technologies for the diagnosis, immunoprophylaxis, and chemotherapy of the diseases.

Prime Minister’s Fellowship for Doctoral Research scheme is a prestigious initiative of Science and Engineering Research Board, Department of Science & Technology, Government of India towards the advancement of university research engagements in line with industry requirement. The scheme encourages full time PhD scholars to pursue research in “focus areas” identified by industries as well as of national priorities. There are 100 slots of fellowships available annually to researchers to pursue PhD in reputed technology and research institutions in India. Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) on behalf of SERB implements the scheme.

Bharat institute of Technology-Pharmacy (BIT) was established in the year 1999 by the CHMR Educational Society with the noble aim of imparting quality Pharmacy education to students aspiring to become responsible pharmacists and to cater to the needs of pharmacy profession. National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences is a multidisciplinary Institute for patient care and academic pursuit in the frontier area of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences. The Lunatic Asylum which came into being in the latter part of the 19th Century was renamed as Mental Hospital in 1925 by the erstwhile Government of Mysore. This hospital and All India Institute of Mental Health established in 1954 by Government of India were amalgamated on 27th December 1974, and thus was formed the autonomous National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences (NIMHANS). The priority gradiant adopted at the Institute is service, manpower development and research.

Translational Health Science and Technology Institute (THSTI) is an autonomous Institute of the Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Govt. of India. The institute is an integral part of the interdisciplinary NCR Biotech Science Cluster located at Faridabad, and is designed as a dynamic, interactive organization with the mission to conduct innovative translational research and to develop research collaborations across disciplines and professions to translate concepts into tangible products to improve human health.

Regional Centre for Biotechnology (RCB) is an institution of education, training and research established by the Govt. of India under the auspices of UNESCO to foster innovative research and education in a wide range of biotech-related sciences. RCB is situated in the NCR Biotech Science Cluster (NBSC) developed by the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India, on a 200-acre site located at the Faridabad-Gurgaon expressway within the NCR Delhi, along with other constituent institutions. RCB, in association with Biotechnology Industrial Research Assistance Council (BIRAC), a Govt. of India Enterprise, is in the process of establishing a Bio-Incubator and Advanced Technology Platform Centre to manage and nurture technology development in the broad area of biopharmaceuticals.

Modern Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences was established in 2007 as a dream of Late Shri P. Kharia as an education venture to impart education in Pharmacy. The Institute of Technology and Management (ITM, GIDA, Gorakhpur) started functioning in July 2001 under the patronage of Shree Krishna Educational Society run by a group of socially oriented professionals and entrepreneurs.
