Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani  - Hyderabad campus is one of the premier technical and science institutes of higher learning in India. It was established by Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani (Rajasthan) as one of its latest campuses in the year 2008 with the first batch graduating in the year 2012. BITS, Pilani is one of India’s top technical and science universities  established under Sec. 3 of the UGC act. 

SGT University (Shree Guru Gobind Singh Tricentenary University) came into existence by the Haryana Private Universities (Amendment) Act No. 8 of 2013 making educational opportunities available to all segments of the society under the parasol of Dashmesh Educational Charitable Trust, which was founded in 1999. The Silchar Medical College & Hospital remains the only referral hospital in the southern part of Assam and so, is the sole custodian of health care system of the entire Barak Valley. Amar Shaheed Baba Ajit Singh Jujhar Singh Memorial College of Pharmacy was established in 1993 in remembrance of Sahibzada Ajit Singh Ji and Sahibzada Jujhar Singh Ji, the elder two sons of tenth Guru of Sikhs, Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji. The college is managed by ‘Amar Shaheed Baba Ajit Singh Jujhar Singh Memorial College, Bela’ society through a Managing committee established in 1975.

Higher education in Tripura had a late start. Maharaja Bir Bikram (MBB) College, the first degree college in the State, started functioning under the University of Calcutta only in 1947. Not that there was no attempt in the past in Princely Tripura to establish any higher educational institution. As early as 1901, Radhakishore Manikya made an attempt to establish a degree college in the-then tiny capital town Agartala; but as the proposal did not fulfill the necessary requirements, it did not get approval from the Calcutta University.
