All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) is a new up-coming Institute as Autonomous Organization under the aegis of Ministry of AYUSH, Govt. of India. Institute will impart postgraduate, doctoral, posts-doctoral and Super-specialty Fellowship Programmers in major streams of Ayurveda. The incubation facility is being located synergistically in School of Life Sciences. It will have excellent laboratory facilities and essential equipment facilities for use by the start¬ups. Besides the advanced facilities of School of life Sciences will be available on payment basis to the start-ups. This facility will focus on new and emerging technologies requiring multidisciplinary inputs in the areas of Biosciences and Biotechnology and shall nurture early stage start-ups and facilitate translation of knowledge-base into commercialable products and processes.

One of the most notable developments in the S&T sector in the XI Plan has been the setting up of the Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB) through an Act of Parliament, viz. the Science and Engineering Research Board Act, 2008. Promoting basic research in Science and Engineering and to provide financial assistance to persons engaged in such research, academic institutions, research and development laboratories, industrial concerns and other agencies for such research and for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto are the primary and distinctive mandate of the Board.  SERB aims to build up best management systems which would match the best global practices in the area of promotion and funding of basic research.

NIAB, an autonomous institute under the aegis of Department of Biotechnology, Government of India, is aimed to harness novel and emerging biotechnologies and create knowledge in the cutting edge areas for impr oving animal health and productivity. The Institute’s research focus is on animal genetics and genomics, transgenic technology, reproductive technology, infectious diseases, nutritional enrichment, and bioinformatics. The Institute aims at translational r esearch leading to genetic enhancement of Indian Livestock species and development of novel vaccines, diagnostics and improved therapeutic molecules for farm animals. The Institute plans to promote bio entrepreneurship by providing supportive and stimulati ng academic and creative environment for commercial tenants involved in the development of farm animal based products and services.

National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT), Chennai, a technical arm of the Ministry of Earth Sciences, Govt. of India, is functioning with broad objective of promoting technology development in activities related to Ocean Engineering and Ocean Resource utilization. The Institute has taken up various research activities in the area of Ocean Observation Systems, Offshore Structures / Island Desalination, Ocean Acoustics, Ballast water managements, Seawater Quality Monitoring Programme and Marine Biotechnology. This wide spectrum of research activities provides opportunities to bright young men and women in the form of direct Junior Research Fellowships (JRFs), Senior Research Fellowships (SRFs) and Research Associate (RAs) for training in methods of research under the expert guidance of scientists working in the organization.
