Regional Centre for Biotechnology (RCB), an institution of education, training and research is established by the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India under the auspices of UNESCO. The Centre will focus on cooperatively working towards shared biotechnology growth in the Asia-Pacific Region. Regional interactions in biotechnology will promote co-operation amongst the countries to develop necessary infrastructure and capacity building for economic benefit of our societies. The Centre would be beneficial in developing knowledge rich, highly skilled human resource to all countries in the region. RCB will be part of the Biotech Science Cluster (BSC) and will operate in synergy with the other institutions in the Cluster.

The Nagpur University was established on 4th August, 1923 with six affiliated colleges and 927 students. During 1947, the number of students increased to about 9000 accompanied by the improvement and diversification of curricula and expansion in the range of subjects. The expansion of library and sports facilities occurred during these years for the intellectual and physical well being of the students. It was in 1958 that some new Departments in Arts and Social Science faculties were opened; the major expansion, however, came in 1963 when several science and other teaching Departments were started. The Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission (IPC) has been established as an autonomous Institution underthe aegis of the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India primarily with the objectives ofregularly updating the Indian Pharmacopoeia (an official book for setting standards of drugs in the Country) by publishing new edition and its addenda, from time to time; National Formulary of India(reference book for rational use of generic medicines) and carrying out other related tasks such asproviding Reference Substances to the stakeholders and conducting skill development programmes. TheCommission also functions as National Coordination Centres (NCC) for Pharmacovigilance Programmeof India (PvPl) and Materiovigilance Programme of India (MvPI) for ensuring safety of patients/drugs andmedical devices, respectively, in the Country.

The jurisdiction of S. D. Agricultural University is Seven Districts of North Gujarat region viz., Banaskantha, Sabarkantha, Mehsana, Patan, Gandhinagar, Kachchh and Aravalli.
