Tata Memorial Centre is an autonomous grant-in-aid institution of the Department of Atomic Energy. TMC is comprised of the Advanced Centre for Treatment, Research and Education in Cancer (ACTREC) and the Tata Memorial Hospital (TMH). ACTREC conducts a Ph.D. program in Life Sciences, affiliated to the Homi Bhabha National Institute (a deemed university under category A by MHRD, Govt of India). On-going research at ACTREC includes basic and translational research in Cancer Biology.

The Tata Medical Center (TMC) is a multispecialty institution for tertiary cancer care based in New Town, Kolkata. At TMC, clinical and research activities are integrated to provide state- of-the-art care for patients with cancer. This integration is enabled by the Tata Translational Cancer Research Centre (TTCRC), the research arm of TMC. TTCRC is within a dedicated academic space and spread over 3 floors.

As per new amendment of New Drugs and Clinical Trials, Clinical Research Organisations cannot conduct any clinical trial or bioavailability studies without permission from Central Licencing Authority.

As per new amendment, application for registration of Clinical Research Organisation for the purpose of conducting clinical trial or bioavailability or bioequivalence study with the Central Licencing Authority shall be made to the said authority in Form CT-07B.
