NCCS is an autonomous institute of Department of Biotechnology, Government of India. It is at the forefront of basic research in diverse area of cell biology. The contributions made by scientists of NCCS have gained worldwide recognition.
NCCS invites online applications from Indian nationals possessing excellent academic record and relevant work experience for the following positions on the Project entitled “Establishment of Centre of Excellence for National Centre for Microbial Resource” (NCMR) purely on temporary basis till the end of the project i.e. upto September 30,2022.
Consultant - 01 Post
Upper Age Limit : 63 Years
Scale of Pay / Consolidated Pay / Fee : Rs. 50,000/- pm (fixed)
Essential Qualification & Experience :
Professional having a Ph.D. degree in relevant subject and minimum post qualification
experience of 6 years in the requisite field. OR
Retired Government employees with (i) Grade pay of Rs. 6600/- and above Sc (ii) at least 12
years’ experience in the required domain field would also be eligible for this position.
Desirable:
1) Should communicate effectively with different departments within and outside NCCS for administrative matters.
2) Should advise NCMR scientists in the procurement of scientific material as well autonomous institutional policies and procedures from time to time.
3) Should coordinate and guide day-to-day administrative matters of NCMR through proper channels.
Consultant - 01 Post
Upper Age Limit : 63 Years
Scale of Pay / Consolidated Pay / Fee : Rs.50,000/- to Rs. 1,00,000/- upon educational & experience
Essential Qualification & Experience :
Professional having a Ph.D. degree in relevant subject and minimum post qualification experience of 20 years in the requisite field. They should have high competency and established peer reputation.
Retired Government employees with (i) Grade pay of Rs. 10,000/- 8c above & (ii) at least 25 years’ experience in the required domain field would also be eligible for this position.
Desirable:
1) Minimum 10 years’ experience in microbial ecology and taxonomy
2) Should be aware of latest developments in bacterial and fungal taxonomy
3) Experience of working in the management & administration of culture collection activities
Scientist ‘C’ - 03 Posts
Upper Age Limit : 40 Years
Scale of Pay / Consolidated Pay / Fee : PB-3Rs. 15600-39100 + 6600/- Grade Pay
Essential Qualification & Experience :
1st Class or equivalent in M. Tech/M. D./M. V. Sc/ M.Pharm / M. Sc. with 5 years’ experience in R&D or Ph.D. with original work as evidenced by patents or publications. Evidence of leadership with about 4 years’ experience in R&D.
Desirable :
1) Extensive experience in microbial ecology and taxonomy as evidenced by publications.
2) Work experience in handling, maintenance and preservation of microbial culture.
3) Work experience in culture collection and familiarity with SOPs involved in large scale handling and storage of cultures.
4) Work experience in identification and characterisation of microbial cultures using DNA sequencing and/or biochemical methods and related analysis.
Scientist ‘B’ - 03 Posts
Upper Age Limit : 35 Years
Scale of Pay / Consolidated Pay / Fee : PB-3 Rs. 15600-39100 + 5400/- Grade Pay
Essential Qualification & Experience :
1st Class in M. Sc./ M. Tech/ M. D./ M, V. Sc/ M.Pharm with 3 years’ experience in R&D or
Ph.D. in relevant field with 1 year post-doctoral experience.
Desirable:
1) Work experience in handling, maintenance and preservation of microbial cultures.
2) Work experience in identification and characterisation of microbial cultures using DNA sequencing and/or biochemical methods and related analysis.
3) Work experience in culture collection and familiarity with SOPs involved in large scale handling and storage of fungal cultures.
OR
1) Work experience in identification and characterization of fungal cultures and fungal taxonomy.
2) Work experience in handling, maintenance and preservation of fungal cultures.

1) Proven ability to interact with stake holders for the promotion of science and scientific services.

Technician ‘C’ - 03 Posts
Upper Age Limit : 30 Years
Scale of Pay / Consolidated Pay / Fee : Rs. 53,000/- pm with 5% increase per annum
Essential Qualification & Experience :
M. Sc. with 2 years of relevant experience in R&D organizations. Candidate should have minimum of 60% marks in aggregate in qualifying examinations.
Desirable:
In one or more of the following:
1) Handling, maintenance and preservation of microbial cultures.
2) Hands on experience in one or more techniques in microbial identification and characterisation including but not limited to Sanger/NGS sequencing, MALDI, FAME, BIOLOG, VITEK, lipid chromatography etc. OR
3) Experience in working with NGS data analysis especially in microbial genomics and metagenomics.
Technician ‘B’ - 05 Posts
Upper Age Limit : 25 Years
Scale of Pay / Consolidated Pay / Fee : Rs. 42,000/- pm with 5% increase per annum
Essential Qualification & Experience :
B. Sc. with three years’ R&D experience in the required area. Candidate should have 60% marks in aggregate in qualifying examination.
Desirable:
In one or more of the following:
1) Handling, maintenance and preservation of microbial cultures.

13) Reservation as per Govt, of India norms will be followed.
14) SC/ST/OBC candidates must produce proof of their caste certificate from appropriate
authority. In addition, OBC candidates must also produce latest/valid non-creamy layer certificate in the prescribed form for claiming the reservation benefits.
15) As per DoPT O.M. No. 36039/l/2019-Estt.(Res.) dated 31st Jan 2019, the benefit of reservation under Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) can be availed upon production of an Income and Asset Certificate issued by a Competent Authority as per the format prescribed by the Govt, of India. Candidates who are not covered under the scheme of reservation for SC/ST/OBC (NCL) and whose family has gross annual income below Rs 8.00 Lakh (Rupees eight lakh only) are to be identified as EWS for benefit of reservation for EWS. The income shall also include income from all sources i.e. salary, agriculture, business, profession etc. for the financial year prior to the year of application.
• The benefit of reservation under EWS can be availed upon production of an Income and Asset Certificate issued by a Competent Authority. The Income and Asset Certificate issued by any one of the following authorities shall only be accepted as candidate's claim as belonging to EWS:
a) District Magistrate / Additional District Magistrate / Collector / Deputy Commissioner / Additional Deputy Commissioner /1st Class Stipendiary Magistrate / Sub-Divisional Magistrate / Taluka Magistrate / Executive Magistrate / Extra Assistant Commissioner.
b) Chief Presidency Magistrate/ Additional Chief Presidency Magistrate/Presidency Magistrate.
c) Revenue Officer not below the rank of Tehsildar and
d) Sub-Divisional Officer or the area where the candidate and/or his family normally resides.
• The EWS candidates are advised to note that in case of appointment, the same is provisional and is subject to the Income and asset certificate being verified through the proper channels and if the verification reveals that the claim to belong to EWS is fake/false the services will be terminated without assigning any further reasons and without prejudice to such further action as may be taken under the provisions of the Indian Penal Code for production of fake/false certificate.
• The appointing authority will verify the veracity of the Income and asset certificate submitted by the candidate through the certificate issuing authority.
16) The prescribed educational qualifications and experience are the bare minimum and mere possession of same does not entitle candidates to be called for online interview. The Centre reserves the right to call for online interview only those candidates who in its opinion are likely to be suitable.
17) Where number of applications received in response to this advertisement is large & it will not be convenient or possible to interview all the candidates, based on the recommendations of screening committee, the project investigator may restrict the number of candidates to be called for the interview to a reasonable limit after taking into consideration of qualifications and desirable experience over and above the minimum prescribed, in the advertisement. Therefore, it will be in the interest of the candidates, to mention all the qualifications and experience in the relevant field at the time of applying. No interim enquiries/correspondence/communication of any sort will be entertained on this matter.
18) The above advertised positions are filled up purely on temporary basis for the limited time period on the project. The position will automatically co-terminus on the completion of the project tenure. The appointed person shall have no claim of appointment/absorption in funding agency or in NCCS/NCMR, Pune.
