Railways Announces Pharmacist Recruitment for 118 Posts - B.Pharm & Pharm.D Candidates Eligible

Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) have released the detailed Centralised Employment Notification (CEN) No. 05/2026 for recruitment to various paramedical categories in Indian Railways. Among these, 118 vacancies are available for Pharmacist (Entry Grade) posts.

Minimum Educational Qualification for Railway recruitment 2026:
Bachelor Degree in Pharmacy (Allopathic) from a Central or State Government recognized University or Institute and registered as Pharmacist under the Pharmacy Act, 1948 OR Doctor of Pharmacy from a Central or State Government recognized University or Institute and registered as Pharmacist under the Pharmacy Act, 1948

Vacancy & Medical Fitness – Important
The notification states that vacancies can be revised according to Railway requirements. Candidates called for Document Verification must pass the prescribed Railway medical fitness examination. For the Pharmacist (Entry Grade) post, the prescribed medical standard is C-2. Failure to meet the required medical standard means the candidate will not be empanelled for the post, and no alternative appointment will be provided.

Age & Qualification — Key Points
For this CEN, age is reckoned as on 01 January 2027. The notification provides category-wise upper-age relaxations, including 5 years for SC/ST and 3 years for OBC-NCL, subject to the prescribed conditions and certificates.
For educational qualification, the candidate must already possess the prescribed qualification by 14 October 2026. Those awaiting their final result are not eligible.

Examination Fee
₹500: General fee category; ₹400 is refundable after appearing in CBT, after applicable bank charges.
₹250: SC, ST, Ex-Servicemen, PwBD, Female, Transgender, Minority and EBC candidates; ₹250 is refundable after appearing in CBT, after applicable bank charges.
Fee payment is online only through internet banking, debit/credit card or UPI.
Special note: EBC is not the same as OBC or EWS. EBC provides fee concession and does not provide job reservation.

NATIONALITY / CITIZENSHIP:
(a) A candidate must be either:
(i) a citizen of India, or
(ii) a citizen of Nepal, or
(iii) a subject of Bhutan, or
(iv) a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the
United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.
(v) Provided that a candidate belonging to categories (ii), (iii) and (iv) above, shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India.
(b) A candidate in whose case a certificate of eligibility is necessary may be admitted to the examination provisionally.
However, the Certificate of Eligibility issued by the Government of India has to be submitted during Document Verification, failing which his/her candidature shall be rejected

Important Instructions
- Candidates should read the complete CEN carefully before submitting the online application and should ensure that they fulfil all prescribed eligibility conditions.
- Candidates must possess the required educational/technical/professional qualification on or before 14 October 2026. Candidates awaiting their final examination results are not eligible to apply.
- A candidate can choose only one RRB. Within the chosen RRB, candidates can indicate their preferences for the eligible Railway Zones and posts/categories. Once exercised, these options cannot be changed.
- Multiple applications, whether to different RRBs or the same RRB, will lead to rejection. Candidates submitting more than one application may also be debarred from future RRB/RRC examinations.
- Candidature is initially provisional. Eligibility and original certificates/documents will be verified during Document Verification (DV). If any claim is not supported by valid documents, candidature will be cancelled.
- Candidates claiming SC/ST/OBC-NCL/EWS/EBC/PwBD/ExSM benefits must possess the required certificates in the prescribed format.
- Candidates must satisfy the prescribed medical standards for the post opted for. If found medically unsuitable, no alternative appointment will be provided.
- Candidates should keep their mobile number and personal email ID active throughout the recruitment process, as RRB will communicate through SMS/email. Requests to change the registered mobile number or email ID will not be entertained.
- Candidates may be allotted an examination centre in another city or state depending on technical and logistical feasibility. Requests to change the examination date, centre or shift will not be accepted.
- Candidates are advised to authenticate their identity through Aadhaar/DigiLocker during account creation or through the Verify Aadhaar facility before final submission.
- Candidates who already created an RRB account during earlier CENs should use the same account credentials. Details entered during account creation, including mobile number and email ID, cannot be modified later.
- After application submission, modifications are permitted from 17 October to 26 October 2026 by paying a ₹250 non-refundable modification fee. However, the chosen RRB and account-creation details cannot be changed.
- There will be 1/3 negative marking for every wrong answer in the CBT.
Candidates should avoid carrying valuables or prohibited items to the examination centre, as cloakroom facilities may not be available.

Items prohibited at the CBT Centre
Mobile phones, pagers, watches, earphones, Bluetooth devices, microphones, health bands, calculators, books, pens, papers, pencils, erasers, pouches, scales, writing pads, belts, handbags, caps, purses, cameras, water bottles and food items are among the prohibited items.
Only the e-call letter will be allowed inside the test centre. A pen will be provided by the examination authority. Candidates are also advised not to apply henna/mehendi on hands or feet, as it may interfere with biometric capture. Violation may lead to disqualification and legal action.

General Instructions
1. Admission to all stages of recruitment is provisional, subject to fulfilment of all eligibility conditions.
2. Candidates must possess the prescribed qualification from a recognised Board/University/Institute by the closing date of application.
3. Candidates awaiting the final result of the prescribed qualification should not apply.
4. Submission of multiple applications will result in rejection and possible debarment from future RRB/RRC examinations.
5. Candidates currently debarred by any RRB/RRC should not apply.
6. Candidates dismissed from service by the Government of India, State Government, PSU or another government organisation are not eligible.
7. Name, father's name, mother's name and date of birth should be entered exactly as recorded in the Matriculation/10th/SSC/SSLC certificate.
8. Candidates must upload their live photograph and signature according to the prescribed specifications. Blurred, illegible or non-standard photographs/signatures may result in rejection.
9. The candidate's signature should remain uniform and identical throughout the recruitment process.
10. CBT and DV dates will be announced on the official RRB websites. The centre, date and shift mentioned in the e-call letter will be final.
11. The vacancies notified are provisional and may increase, decrease or even become NIL depending on Railway requirements.
12. The Railway Administration reserves the right to cancel notified vacancies or reschedule CBT/DV due to unavoidable circumstances.
13. Mere issuance of an e-call letter does not mean that candidature has been finally accepted. Original documents and credentials will be verified at subsequent stages.
14. Any discrepancy between the application and original documents, or submission of false information/suppression of material facts, can result in cancellation of candidature/appointment and lifetime debarment.
15. Selection by RRB does not itself guarantee appointment. Final appointment is subject to the concerned Railway authority, vacancy availability, eligibility, merit, post preference and medical fitness.
16. Candidates should choose their RRB carefully because a Railway employee ordinarily serves in the Railway/establishment where initially posted and requests for transfer to another Railway will generally not be registered until completion of at least 5–10 years of service.
17. SC/ST candidates who opt for the applicable facility may receive free Sleeper Class Railway travel for CBT/DV/Medical Examination as per the prescribed conditions.
18. Candidates are advised to submit the application well before the closing date to avoid problems caused by heavy website/internet traffic.

Candidates should:

2. Complete the registration/application process.
3. Select the appropriate RRB and post preference as applicable.
