The St. John's Research Institute (SJRI) is a part of the St John's National Academy of Health Sciences, which is run by the CBCI Society for Medical Education. From its inception, St. John's has set before it an ideal of excellence in academic courses as well as service to society as a result of which it has truly become holistic both in its outlook and in its approach to the problems of community health.  In 2000, the Academy decided that its commitment to excellence in research required the setting up of an Institute that was dedicated to the pursuit of research and capacity development in St. John's. This vision encompassed improvement of health of the community and patients through research and development of a Center for Excellence in medical research in India.

Post : Junior Research Fellow - DBT Dysplasia to Carcinoma Project

Job Summary
The scope of the described study is focused on understanding the molecular mechanisms and early indicators of malignant transformation in the oral cavity, with a specific emphasis on oral potentially malignant disorders (OPMDs) and their progression to oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC). The study aims to address the high prevalence of oral cancers in India, where 80% of cases stem from OPMDs, by identifying early biomarkers that predict the likelihood of malignant transformation.

Salary : Rs.46,990/-  p.m

Key Responsibilities :
• Perform molecular biology experiments.
• Analyse experimental data using statistical and bioinformatics tools.
• Maintain accurate lab records, sample logs, and experiment documentation.
• Prepare progress reports, technical documentation, and grant updates.
• Contribute to manuscript writing for publications in peer-reviewed journals.

Eligibility Criteria :
Preferred Qualifications : M.Sc. in any discipline of Life Sciences with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks or an equivalent grade. Candidates who have qualified NET will be preferred.
Preferred Language : English
