USP’s drug standards are enforceable in the United States by the Food and Drug Administration, and these standards are used in more than 140 countries.

Job Description
This position will drive regional strategy, marketing and sales efforts for USP Education, which is working to develop and deliver in-depth courses to address the capability building and skill development needs of the pharmaceutical and biotech industry in India. The position will develop and implement a sustainable model to achieve growth and scale for the USP Education program in India and support tailoring the model for other emerging countries.

Roles and Responsibilities:
Business Development and Strategy:

• Develop strategy for medium-long term training initiative in India, and develop a sustainable business model for achieving scale. Drive projects with consultants and market research firms to develop strategy and to develop the business model
• Explore opportunities to collaborate with Central Government, State governments, Universities, Institutions, Instrument vendor companies, and Industry to promote and scale the training initiative.  Build sustainable operational and financial collaboration models and drive business development efforts to partner with relevant organizations
• Work with Global Sites Head and Global USP Education head to develop USP Education strategy for other emerging countries.
• Work collaboratively with decision makers and influencers from different pharma companies in India to understand their specific requirements. Work with USP Education colleagues and Program Unit leads to evaluate opportunities and support development and roll-out of new and relevant, up-to-date courses that address the specific and evolving needs of the pharmaceutical and biotech industry and are aligned with Program Unit and global USP Education strategies.

Marketing:
• Work with the Strategic Marketing team in India to develop and execute a marketing and promotion campaign for USP training courses.
• Oversee development of promotional material by working with local and global USP staff, consultants, agencies and PR firms
• Monitor the market and gather competitive intelligence on existing offerings and, importantly, offerings under development in the market
• Monitor industry and university response to the Training courses and USP’s promotion of the same

Sales and Strategic Customer Development:
• Responsible for sales and promotion of Training courses, at Hyderabad site, to ensure student in-take from pharmaceutical industry (B to B) and students (B to C) from universities achieve annual enrollment targets.
• When sites are operational in other parts of India, oversee sales and promotion to B to B and B to C segments. Responsible for ensuring enrollment.
• Responsible for sales and promotion of Training courses for experienced professionals from pharmaceutical companies (B to B) in India to achieve annual enrollment targets
• Collaborate with existing sales team for Reference Standards and Education to align existing courses and new wave of GMP courses

Operations:
• In partnership with global USP Education staff, lead and monitor work with Instructional design firms and USP Faculty/SMEs to continually enhance course material and plan for development of new courses/material
• Work closely with Operations leads at local site(s) of the training programs to ensure streamlined registration and positive participant experience. Put in mechanisms for continual improvement of participant experience

People Management:
• Supervise and develop a Manager, developing his/her capability for strategic thinking by involving in strategy projects

Candidate Profile
• MBA from a reputed business school; Degree in Science preferred.
• 10+ years of work experience, out of which a significant portion is in Sales and/or Business Development for training institutes/technical training centers/continual education centers
• Experience in Strategy development and Business models and business plan development required
• People management experience with proven track record of motivating teams to achieve desired results
• An understanding of the pharma industry highly preferred
• Demonstrated experience in implementing new business ideas
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate at all levels in the organization
• Proven ability to work on global teams
• Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Self-starter with high level of motivation
