University of Hyderabad is setting up a Bio-incubator Nurturing Entrepreneurship for Scaling ecologies (UoH-BioNEST), with the support of the Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC), a Government of India Enterprise under DBT, Ministry of Science & Technology. The incubation facility is being located synergistically in School of Life Sciences. It will have excellent laboratory facilities and essential equipment facilities for use by the start¬ups. Besides the advanced facilities of School of life Sciences will be available on payment basis to the start-ups. This facility will focus on new and emerging technologies requiring multidisciplinary inputs in the areas of Biosciences and Biotechnology and shall nurture early stage start-ups and facilitate translation of knowledge-base into commercialable products and processes.
Applications are invited for the following temporary positions: Chief Executive Officer (CEO) [One Position]; Scientific Officer (SO) (Two positions); Technical Officer (TO) (One position)
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) [One position]
Nature of Job: The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) will be responsible for, among others:
• Day-to-day operations of the Incubation Centre and troubleshooting;
• Creating enabling mechanisms and eco-system to attract start-ups and budding entrepreneurs;
• Enhance the visibility of the incubation centre;
• Organizing programmes such as boot camps, hackathons, concept contests and other similar activities;
• Facilitate interaction between the entrepreneurs and angel funds, seed funds, venture funds, private funds and similar such funds;
• Maintain a set of experts and mentors experienced in various aspects of technology and innovation management as well as services such as IP, Legal, accounting etc.; and
• Promoting entrepreneurship among the students and faculty of the UoH.
The CEO is expected to work under the overall supervision and direction of Principal Investigator of the Project and the Advisory committee constituted specifically for the center.
Salary and Tenure: The salary will be Rs. 1,00,000 (consolidated) per month. The initial period of appointment will be for Two Years on contractual basis extendable for further periods on mutual consent.
Essential Qualifications: A master degree (M.Sc/M.Tech/M.Pharm/Ph.D) in any of the allied subjects of life sciences.
Essential Expertise: Good Knowledge in biological sciences; Good writing and communicative skills, preferably in English; Good understanding of general laboratory practices and working knowledge of instruments; Computer literacy and numeracy; and good inter personal relations.
Experience: A minimum 10 years of experience in managing the incubation center / R&D in translational research / industrial experience / entrepreneurial experience.
Age: The candidate must not exceed 50 years as on 1-1-2018. Age may be relaxed for experienced and well qualified candidates.
Scientific Officer - (SO) [Two positions]
Nature of Job: Key responsibilities of SO would be to work in tandem with the Chief Executive Officer in (a) managing and maintaining the incubation center (b) enhancing the visibility of the Incubation center (c) Facilitating scientific liaison between incubates and faculty of UoH (d) hand holding the incubates in trouble shooting and providing necessary connections, wherever needed (e) helping the budding entrepreneurs in developing proposals for raising funds (f) business development activities and (g) handling of scientific equipment and interpretation of results.
Essential Expertise: Good Knowledge in biological sciences; Good writing and communicative skills, preferably in English; Good understanding of general laboratory practices and working knowledge of instruments; Computer literacy and numeracy.
Qualifications and Experience: The candidate should have a post graduate qualification in Bio- sciences/physical sciences or B.Tech/M. Tech in engineering in any branch or MBA from a recognized University / institution. Preference will be given to those who have previous experience in an incubation center or industry or involved in managing a start-up.
Salary and Tenure: The salary will be Rs. 60,000 (consolidated) per month. The initial period of appointment will be for TwoYears on contractual basis extendable for further period on mutual consent.
Age: The candidate must not exceed 40 years as on 1-1-2018. Age may be relaxed for experienced and well qualified candidates.

Technical Officer: (TO) [One position]
Nature of Job: Key responsibilities of TO would be (a) management and smooth functionality of scientific instruments at UoH-BioNEST (b) assisting the Scientific officers in their day to day activities (b) help/liaise with the incubates for their analytical support activities and interpretation of the analytical data.
Essential Expertise:
• Experience in managing product-wise health records and planning and executing preventive maintenance schedules.
• Sound root cause analysis techniques for fault finding in electronic and electromechanical systems
• Familiarity in using electronic tools including oscilloscopes
• Good communication skills in coordinating with vendors and service providers
• Knowledge of calibration of instruments and maintenance of related records. Planning and scheduling calibrations
• Plan contingency essential spares
• Should be able to provide periodic reports to higher management and respond to any relevant queries
• Should be able to monitor healthy power supply and earthing to all equipment and make relevant recommendations to ensure a robust power distribution
Qualifications and Experience: The candidate should have a graduate or post-graduate degree (B.Tech/M.Tech) in the field of electronics engineering from a recognized University / institution with a minimal of 5 years of working in industry, academia, or institutes. Preference will be given to those who have previous experience in an industry or institute with instrument management and maintenance specifically towards biological or biotechnological field.
Salary: The salary will be Rs.40,000 (consolidated) per month. The initial period of appointment will be for TwoYears on contractual basis extendable for further period on mutual consent.
Age: The candidate must not exceed 35 years as on 1-1-2018. Age may be relaxed for experienced and well qualified candidates.
