U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced its new export certification program for certain FDA-regulated food products and fees it will assess for issuing new export certifications to U.S.-based manufacturers or exporters of these products. Export certification under the Federal Food, Drug & Cosmetic Act (FD&C Act) provides U.S. exporters another tool to facilitate exports to countries that import food products from the U.S.

A memorable advance was made in the development of local self Govt. in Baroda State in the year 1892, when Sudharai Nibandh Municipal Act was passed by his highness Late Shri Maharaja Sayajirao Gaekwad. It recoginsed for the first time the elective principal in Baroda Municipal Govt. Under this Act, the city was devided into 22 wards, each to elect one member to the Municipal Baroda. Besides the large number of elected members, there were eight ex-officio members, The Sudharai Kamdar, The municipal commissioner being the ex-officio president of the municipality. The whole cost of municipal administration was borne by the Baroda State Govt.

Govt. of Himachal Pradesh took up initiative in early seventies to set up a CSIR lab to make prudential use of the natural resources of the region. After several levels of discussions a formal request was made by then Chief Minister of HP to Vice President, CSIR in 1982 for initiating the matter, and giving final shape to the proposal. The dream of HP government finally came true in 1983 when the foundation stone of this National lab was laid as CSIR Complex Palampur by Prof. Nurul Hasan, former Vice President of CSIR, with then Chief Minister of HP chairing the function.

The Dr. Reddy's Institute of Life Sciences was conceived in the context of globalization, to foster research competence in India and to bridge the divide between academic research and the pharmaceutical & biotechnology industries.  The institute was incorporated as a non-profit entity under Section 25 of the Indian companies act, facilitating operational autonomy. Construction of the DRILS building comprising 44 labs and an administrative block and spanning ~130,000 sq.ft. in area, began in 2004 and was completed in January 2007.
