Job Description
Position Summary: 

Provide safe, appropriate, and effective use of drugs in and outside the hospital by serving as a resource person and a clinical liaison to physicians, pharmacists, nurses, and other hospital personnel.  Perform duties of a staff pharmacist as necessary.  Provide care to patients of all ages.Provide patient care/services based on identified needs/developmental level for all patient populations checked below; care/services may include assessment of individual patient need; incorporation of age-specific characteristics in patient education, communication, and planning; provision of individualized care relevant to patient needs; and recognition, monitoring, and provision of interventions as appropriate.

Candidate Profile
Doctor of Pharmacy degree.  Licensure or eligibility for licensure by the Kentucky Board of Pharmacy.  Demonstrated clinical skills required.  Adequate conversational English is required in order that the individual be able to take direction from management, understand how to complete job tasks, communicate adequately with patients and co-workers as necessary, understand and follow safety guidelines, and understand the employee handbook and all hospital policies.

Working Relationships:  
The Clinical Pharmacy Specialist is responsible to the Clinical Pharmacy Manager and does not supervise other employees.  Is in daily contact with patients, visitors, physicians, and other professional employees.  May have contact with persons outside the hospital.

Physical Requirements and Environmental Conditions:
Must be able to perform difficult manipulative skills and tasks which require hand-eye coordination and arm-hand steadiness.  Must be able to walk, stand and sit extensively, remain in uncomfortable positions for long periods, visually discriminate close objects and colors, and hear normal sounds.
