Vacancy for Postdoctoral Fellow at University of Toronto

Dr. Bowen Li is an incoming Tenure-Stream Assistant Professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Toronto (starting Jan 2022). He is currently a postdoctoral associate at MIT, working with Professor Robert Langer and Professor Daniel Anderson. His current research is focused on employing engineering approaches to enhance the performance of mRNA-based therapeutics and vaccines for combating cancer and infection diseases.

A postdoctoral fellow position is available in Dr. Bowen Li's laboratory (li-bowen.com) in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Toronto (UofT). The UofTisatop public research university in Canada. The university ranked 16th in the world by U.S. News & World Report Best Global University Ranking (2022) and its Faculty of Pharmacy ranked 4»h in the world for pharmacy & pharmacology by QS World University Ranking (2019).

The successful applicant will be expected to :
• Pursue independent and collaborative research projects that involve the design, development, and application of polymer and lipid nanoparticle systems for RNA delivery.
• Contribute to grant proposals, publish original research, and present research at national and international conferences.
• Communicate closely with the PI, lab members, and collaborators on project development, material characterization, and experimental results.
• Mentor undergraduate and graduate students in the lab


Required qualifications
• PhD in chemistry, immunology, molecular biology, bioengineering, pharmaceutical sciences, materials science, or a related field.
• Hands-on experience with flow cytometry, animal studies, cell culture, and molecular biology techniques (e.g. western blotting, PCR) is desirable.
• Highly self-motivated and well organized.
• Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills.
