Purpose
Position exists to provide strong business partnering in the context of all strategic, people related topics viz Performance Management, Talent identification, development and retention, Change Management, Reward and recognition, cordial employee relations, Engagement interventions etc, to Consumer Health business division under Healthcare India commercial operations.

Total sales revenue supported: INR 600 Cr / Euros 80 Mio
Total number of employees supervised (in organization): Approx 1300 (FTE 800, Outsourced 500)
Number of locations responsible for: Pan India field sales
Total operating/department budget: NA
Total capital expenditures: NA

Essential Job Functions

  • He/she ensures the implementation and application of agreed upon Merck HR directives, policies, processes, systems and programmes throughout the organization and strives for best practices in the standardization, harmonization and alignment of local HR activities, but always with the business requirements in mind.
  • Delivers key HR processes such as talent management, performance management, workforce planning, anticipating recruitment needs etc.
  • Supports building a culture of cordial employee relations, ensuring compliance and adherence to applicable laws and Merck rules
  • Supports organizational changes (restructuring, mergers, acquisitions and divestments) providing appropriate solutions to the business from the HR perspective
  • Through an understanding of the business and engagement with the business leaders, translate the business requirements and challenges into relevant HR actions and initiatives
  • Support management in communicating HR issues properly to employees
  • Counsels and supports business managers in the resolution of specific individual HR issues
  • Play active role in utilizing HR expertise to address business needs and understands the business impact of delivering results while upholding the Company core values
  • Leverages available CoEs expertise and the HR Services unit for providing business inputs and working out acceptable solutions and services
  • Work closely with HR Services Compliance team to ensure site level compliance and statutes are not violated
  • Effectively participates as an integral team member of the India HR group. Participates in and/or leads HR projects and initiatives
  • Demonstrates ability and willingness to align local implementation with global business requirements following implementation of the New Leadership Organization (NLO)

Candidate Profile :
Hold a master in Human Resources Management – Full time MBA in HR
At least 7-9 year experience in HR Business Partner role in a large or mid-sized pharma / OTC organization
Have solid working knowledge in major HR disciplines and an excellent toolbox within talent management and leadership development

Knowledge and Skills

  • Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Sound orientation and exposure to applicable local labor laws
  • Effective leadership and communication skills (written, oral, listening, presentation)
  • Demonstrated competence in coaching and conflict resolution
  • Ability to collaborate in the  Merck HR business model: Shared Service Center, Business
  • Partner, Center of Expertise
  • Experienced in multidisciplinary project and corresponding change management
  • Good understanding of financial impacts derived from HR decisions and policies
  • General business acumen
  • Take a strong stand with management if required

Position will operate out of Mumbai but will require some amount of domestic travel
