  • Pluristem Therapeutics Inc. announced that the Company’s Phase III study of its PLX-PAD cells in the treatment of critical limb ischemia (CLI) was cleared by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Pluristem’s strategy is to use this single multinational Phase III study to support the submission of a biologics license application (BLA) to the FDA for marketing approval. Pluristem expects to begin enrolling patients in its Phase III study in both the U.S. and Europe during the first half of 2017.

  • Roche announced that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has accepted the company’s supplemental Biologics License Application (sBLA) and granted Priority Review for TECENTRIQ® (atezolizumab) for the treatment of people with locally advanced or metastatic urothelial carcinoma (mUC) who are ineligible for cisplatin chemotherapy, and are either previously untreated (first-line) or have disease progression at least 12 months after receiving chemotherapy before surgery (neoadjuvant) or after surgery (adjuvant). Urothelial carcinoma accounts for 90 percent of all bladder cancers and can also be found in the renal pelvis, ureter and urethra.

  • Egalet Corporation announced that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved ARYMO™ ER (morphine sulfate) extended-release (ER) tablets C-II for the management of pain severe enough to require daily, around-the-clock, long-term opioid treatment and for which alternative treatment options are inadequate.

  • AcelRx Pharmaceuticals, a specialty pharmaceutical company focused on the development and commercialization of innovative therapies for the treatment of moderate-to-severe acute pain, has recently announced that the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has conditionally accepted the brand name, Dsuvia (sufentanil sublingual tablet, 30 mcg), for the company's investigational product candidate, ARX-04. In addition, AcelRx has applied to the US Patent and Trademark Office to obtain federal registration of the Dsuvia mark.

  • Alexion Pharmaceuticals, Inc. announced that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has granted orphan drug designation (ODD) to ALXN1210, a highly innovative, longer-acting anti-C5 antibody that inhibits terminal complement, which is being evaluated for the treatment of patients with paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria (PNH). PNH is a debilitating, ultra-rare, life-threatening blood disorder in which uncontrolled activation of complement, a component of the immune system, results in hemolysis (destruction of a patient’s red blood cells).

  • Cesca Therapeutics Inc. announced  that the Company received approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for significant revisions to the Company’s pivotal study for treatment of Critical Limb Ischemia (CLI). The CLI clinical trial is designed to demonstrate the safety and efficacy of the Company’s point-of-care SurgWerks™ system for the treatment of CLI patients with limited or no treatment options. The study was first approved by FDA in June 2015, but was not initiated at that time pending funding.

  • CytRx Corporation , a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on discovering, developing and commercializing new therapeutics to treat patients with cancer,  announced that, in response to a request from the company, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has agreed to a Type B pre-NDA meeting at which the company will seek input on its planned New Drug Application (NDA) for aldoxorubicin as a new second-line treatment for patients with soft tissue sarcomas (STS).  Assuming a positive outcome from this pre-NDA meeting, CytRx expects to submit an NDA for aldoxorubicin to the FDA in the last quarter of 2017, and, subject to FDA approval, bring aldoxorubicin to market next year.
